A rigorous and detailed unit focused upon J. B. Priestly's classic 1945 play 'An Inspector Calls'. This unit has been created specifically for the new AQA Paper 2a (Modern Texts) exam to be sat from June 2017. This unit focuses upon analysis of the whole text, punctuated by two practice exam questions (one focused upon character, the other on theme) plus a revision quiz. A tried, tested and challenging unit focused upon John Steinbeck's novella 'Of Mice and Men'! This unit has been created specifically to intigrate KS4 skills into the KS3 curriculum to prepare students for the rigors of the new 100% exam GCSE specification. With the novella now removed from the KS4 curriculum, this unit offers a great opportunity to keep this much-loved novella a part of English. The unit works particularly well with Year 8 or 9 students. A range of themes and writing techniques are explored throughout the unit, and the novella is read in its entireity.
