The buildings are on Braye Beach on the small, British Channel Island of Alderney. They were originally used by fishermen to store their nets and boats, but were then taken over by soldiers in World War Two. Today they provide accommodation to seasonal workers and tourists who stay at the island's 'Braye Beach Hotel'.
