A range of resources I have developed over my career teaching in primary schools in Scotland. I have been sharing my resources here for many years with many 4 and 5 star reviews. These are no longer viewable on the resources as I have relisted as paid resources. They can be seen here https://www.flickr.com/gp/151583490@N07/04oYt9

Shoe Design Challenge Sheet

I have run a shoe design challenge as a team building, business studies and enterprise topic. This sheet is for pupils to first design their trainer before pooling their team ideas on a larger A3 version. I have then given them a cheap plain white lace up gym shoe (small size and just 1 per group) to design a prototype with Sharpies they then market and advertise. Think Apprentice/Dragon's Den style. These look very effective as a wall display if you give a choice of bright colours for the lamps. The download is a PDF with instructions and templates for the lamps and flames. Top tip provide the glitter glue in the small plastic shot glasses you find in pound shops and give them cotton buds to apply it with. You only need to provide a tiny amount of glitter glue and it can all get binned at the end of the lesson ;)

Story Writing Describing Settings

PowerPoint presentation setting Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for a lesson working on describing settings. Designed to be interactive with hyperlinks from slide 4, touch an adjective and get a selection of photos which fit that description. Invite to use words related to the senses in their writing. Sets a task to write a descrption using a set of pictures of different settings (I used 2 sets from different teacher resource sites, one pictorial and the other photos to give children a choice).

A sheet to plan an account of an event. I have used this to plan writing a factual account of Sports Day, a sponsored walk and school trips. Prompts to structure the writing and encourage chronology.

Seating Plan System, especially useful for multiple classes and co-operative learning groups.

2 part system. Laminated mat goes on you tables of 4 with table number/group name on in whiteboard marker and coloured arrows pointing to seats. Sheet is filled in for each class with seats assigned by table and colour. As classes arrive seats can them allocated quickly with pupils being given their table number and seat colour. When working in co-operative groups it is then easy to assign roles and tasks by colour. I've used this to good effect when teaching several classes in a day for non contact time in a room which was not permanently mine so all resources had to be removed at the end of the day. This system could easily be moved from room to room.

Sock Snowman Step by Step Photos Christmas Craft Fundraiser

Step by step photographic instructions of how to make a snowman from a sock filled with rice. I also have instructions for Sock Santa in my shop. Top tip use a plastic cup or dry disposable water bottle with the bottom cut out of it as a rice funnel. Working in pairs for this step is also easier.

An Easter assembly done as 5 news bulletin reports outlining the different parts of the Easter story as it may be reported today. I used this for the Easter service at church across 5 classes but easily adapted to an assembly and different groupings. 10 speaking parts. Could also be an Easter dram/RE/RME lesson.

Energy Song KS1 KS2 First Level Second Level

Lyrics to a song which gives examples of different types of energy and how energy changes from one form to another. Also stresses that energy is conserved. Set to the tune of When Christmas Comes to Town from Polar Express as my class already knew the tune. Last page of the PowerPoint is a lyrics sheet to be printed and given out if required.
