A Drag & Drop exercise for building up the electronic structure of atoms. After a short cartoon for building up an atom of calcium, students build up four atoms by drag and drop. This is a variation of my ‘drag and drop functional group’ activity. In this case you drag the structural formula to the correct name of the functional group. If it is correct it will stick, otherwise it won’t. Could be used around the whiteboard as a quick AFL. Preparing for a lesson with a student on waves, I was searching for diagrams to illustrate it. The internet is awash with suitable diagrams, but they all seem to be low-resolution bitmaps. Being a vector graphic fanatic, I made some high quality graphics of my own. I offer them in pdf, keynote and powerpoint formats.
