This lesson teaches students how to add two fractions together. The lesson is structured for those who may struggle with adding fractions together. The lesson is accompanied with several worksheets for students to complete on adding fractions. Answers are included.

This series of work is designed to revise inequalities with both Foundation and higher level students looking at solving the simplest of inequalities up to the more complicated quadratic inequalities. The PowerPoint is backed up with worksheets and I have included the worksheet Generator. (simply hit F9 on the computer and new worksheets are generated)

This set of exercises can either be used as a starter during the last two weeks of term or all together as a lesson piece. Designed with a Christmas feel, the task involves students either creating mathematical equations or using the process of elimination to find the numerical values attached to each of the Christmas pictures presented. The material is useful for either KS2 or KS3 students, however GCSE foundation students would also have fun with this material.

These festive worksheets and small PowerPoint can be used to keep students at GCSE level motivated in the run up to Christmas.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and recent lock downs, I have designed a series of graded worksheets which can be used to identify gaps in students work throughout the grades. This first batch looks at the material which should cover most topics in the Foundation Tier, graded from 1 to 5. There are approximately 3 to 4 sheets for each grade (with answers). The idea is that a student is given a grade 1 sheet to complete. Once marked and reviewed, the class teacher can then identify class issues, individual student issues and revise accordingly. The a second grade 1 sheet can be given to see if there is improvement. This can be completed for a third and sometimes a forth time. The same approach is then given to grades 2, 3, 4 and 5. This can also be used to seek what worked in lock down with on line learning and what did not.

These 5 lessons introduce students to Ratio and proportion. Lesson 1: Simplifying a ratio and expressing a ratio as a fraction Lesson 2: Expressing as a ratio and simplifying Lesson 3: Dividing into a ratio using the totals in ratio Lesson 4: Dividing into a ratio using one of the given parts Lesson 5: Dividing into a ratio when using the difference between two ratios or the sum of some parts. Each lesson consists of a PowerPoint, printed examples (if preferred ) and a workbook (which I usually print as an A5 booklet). Solutions are given for the workbooks.

Suitable for both KS2 and KS3 students. Due to COVID the way we teach has altered somewhat. These days I find it easier to have my examples preprinted with students filling in the gaps between examples in class with the aid of the teacher at the front. A workbook is then provided which allows the student to answer directly in the book. Note: I tend to print the examples as A4 and the workbook as an A5 booklet. This powerpoint can be used over two or three lessons as revision for removal of one bracket, two brackets and three brackets. Also it can be used to revise factorising through the use of one bracket, two brackets. Each section consists of two or three worked examples followed by several questions for the students to answer. I get the students to copy down the worked examples as we work through them and then they are left to attempt the given questions before we run through the solutions at the board. All answers are given.

This spreadsheet will generate infinite worksheets for percentage questions. The spreadsheet will also provide the answers. Once the sheet is generated print the sheet and print the answers. Then change the worksheet number to 2 or 3, extra and watch a completely new worksheet get generated. Alternatively the spreadsheet can be projected onto the board and students answer from the board. Then at an appropriate time the answers can be shown by changing the column hiding the answers back to black font.

This series of worksheets looks at sequences. Continuing a sequence, the nth term of a linear sequence and the nth term of a quadratic sequence. I use these worksheets initially to accompany the lessons being taught and then as followup work to help with retention.

This Powerpoint can be used over approximately three lessons. The lessons introduce the knowledge of the surd. The understanding of simplifying a surd or an arrangement using surds and then concludes with the more complicated surd questions we see in the new GCSE structure. The Powerpoint is accompanied with two worksheets and answers, which can be used in class or as a piece of homework.

This lesson is aimed at introducing students to the three formula involving Distance, Speed and Time. There are plenty of worked examples and a worksheet to accompany the lesson.

These 5 sheets of 9 questions per sheet can be given to students to complete in class or as a piece of work for home. The sheets are designed to give students regular practice at questions they often forget. Topics included are: Area of a trapezium Solving equations finding the nth term of a sequence Constructing an equation Prime factors Volume of a cylinder Decimal multiplication Factorising Removal of brackets Pie charts Transformations

This lesson was used with a Key stage 3 class. we worked through each example using the calculators this time. Another lesson available in the shop addresses finding the fraction of a quantity without a calculator. The class then complete the worksheet in class or as a piece of homework.

This lesson is a follow on from the lessons involving drawing the quadratic curve. The lesson consists of a couple of worked examples on drawing standard curves, followed by information about some standard graphs and their shape. The lesson also has an worksheet for students to tackle in class or as a piece of homework.

Here are two revision lessons I have used throughout the year with foundation students. The lessons consist of worked examples followed by questions for the students to answer. The PowerPoint is broken down so that any foundation student can access the material.

Make the run up to Christmas a little more fun with these TWO activities in one resource. Activity 1 includes 10 Christmas themed questions for the whole class to answer. Activity 2 includes a Christmas themed work sheet, for students to answer indivually. The questions are aimed at GCSE level and are an excellent, but fun revision sessions. Questions include number, fraction, ratio and algebra. Answers are included for both activities.

This lesson has been used over the years as an introduction to factorising initially the basic trinomials before looking at the more complicated trinomials. The lesson also consists of a worksheet with solutions for students to attempt in class or as a piece of homework.

With factorising and removing brackets of cubics being new to the GCSE specifications last year I have introduced these two lesson to my class teaching. Starting with removal of brackets students are able to extend from the two brackets situation to the three brackets. The following lesson looks at the more complicated factorising a cubic. Initially starting with the first factor given style of question before looking at factorising with no hint given. Worksheets are given for both lessons which could be used in class or as a piece of homework.
