German GCSE and A Level Passive Revision Lesson I put this passive revision lesson together for a private A-Level German student, who has just started to learn German. It contains a step-by-step PowerPoint, starting by discussing current passive knowledge, as well as the passive in English with some practice. Normally, students don’t have too much of an issue using the passive in English when they start working through the activity. The lesson continues by discussing what is required for the passive in German, followed by lots of short practice, progressively getting more and more difficult. The final activity is completing the English sentences from the beginning with the German forms of the passive. Please note: the lesson does not contain any passive modal verb practice, but instead, plenty of passive practice using the present, imperfect, present perfect, past perfect and future and starts off discussing the passive in English, to ensure students understand the concept in English first. Get students straight into learning mode in your German lessons (Year 7, 8, 9, 10, Year 11 or Year 12 and 13!) after the Christmas holidays in the first lesson back with this DIFFERENTIATED, Find Someone Who Activity in German. It can easily be adapted in to any other language for Spanish, French or Italian) and is perfect to revise and practise the past tense, questioning and spontaneous speaking. It contains 18 activities students could do / not do at Christmas and students must put the phrases into questions to ask all members of the class. They must add one student’s name to each box. Contains a ‘Silver’ version which is missing the auxiliary and question word, and a ‘Gold’ version where the infinitive phrase must be changed into the past tense. Easy to edit and add to!

2 WORKSHEETS FOR STUDENTS WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE GDR 1 PPT with my own answers (you may wish to watch the clip and edit answers, although it’s not 100% necessary!) A worksheet to be used whilst watching avery accessible 45-minute video from br.de about the history of the DDR. The video is in German and the questions relate directly to the video and are in order of information. I split this up with my Year 12 film students into 4 lessons: Firstly, we translated the questions and guessed what the answers could be / discussed this in small groups and as a class Secondly, students watched the video in their own time (as homework) to get the gist and add little bits to their sheets Finally, we worked together in the lesson - I played the video and stopped for each question. Students worked in pairs and fours to add further information and then I went through it with them to complete the worksheet.

Sample French GCSE Speaking Questions for General Conversation In order to support the French Speaking of my students, I collated a number of foundation level and higher tier questions and put them into a handout. I have also highlighted keywords that sometimes students struggle to grasp, plus activity suggestions that can be used to support their revision for the general conversation exam. However, these questions might also be useful for the bullet points in the writing examinations, too. AQA French Speaking General Conversation Guidance for Students: FOUNDATION TIER: At foundation level your general french speaking conversation will last between 3 and 5 minutes HIGHER TIER: At higher level your conversation will last between 5 and 7 minutes. When it comes to speaking in a different language, finding enough opportunity in the classroom can be quite tricky. This is a fun, low-prep and low-cost spontaneous speaking activity to use as revision, but also used within topics as speaking starters to practise speaking in the French, German, Spanish and Italian language classrooms, for example. It is an editable PowerPoint with instructions and slides containing a number of GCSE revision topics. However, the topics can easily be edited, depending on your requirements. It can be adapted for all levels, languages (I’ve used it with French, German and English) and groups. It has been tried and tested, but I have added my own spin to it.
