GCSE Genetic Engineering insulin Cut and Stick activity and Answers

(0)
Genetic Engineering Cut and Stick Activity Students can sequence the process of making human insulin using genetically engineered bacteria. The sheet has a scaffoled space for them to stick their answers down and there are then follow-up questions on the second side. Projectable answers are also included

in vivo gene cloning cut and stick and questions - A level - DNA technology

(2)
Cut and stick activity and follow-up questions on in vivo gene cloning (DNA Technology) on a double-sided file. Covers the process including: restriction enzymes, DNA ligase, marker genes, replica plating, antibiotic resistance and GFP Looks really nice if done on full colour (just don’t tell your HoD!) and full markschemes are included for the cut and stick ordering activity as well as the follow-up questions

Meiosis Cut and Stick Activity - A level Biology - and markscheme

(0)
Cut and Stick activity and associated comprehension tasks, along with a projectable markscheme (PPT file). The cut and stick covers both stages of meiosis and genetic recombination, and provides a nice 20-30 minute activity that has proven to be an effective AfL task with my own classes, which was well received.

DNA Sequencing - Sanger Method - Genomes - Presentation - A Level Biology

(0)
A visual 13 slide presentation which runs through the Sanger sequencing method in a fully animated comprehensive manner. The starter slide explores nucleotide structure and dideoxynucleotides. The slides then move onto the reaction, gel electrophoresis, autoradiograph production, and some key points about the value of genome sequencing.

Respiration GCSE Team Relay Quiz and RAG Class Voting Quiz

(0)
RAG Class Voting Quiz to use with Red/Amber/Green Cards Relay Quiz - Print slides 1 – 4 single sided in a separate colour for each team. Slice and put in a pile and staple the stack so it is in numerical order. Teams have to come and collect the 1st question, take it back to their team to answer, then bring it to you (the teacher) to have it checked. If they are correct they can move on to the next question. If they are wrong, you may choose to give them some verbal feedback they can share with their team. Great AfL activity which my students LOVE!

***Get 90% off the cost of your first resource worth up to £10 with code JANUARY90. New buyers only!*** A level Biology double-sided worksheet looking at the genetic code. This sheet has been produced with the AQA spec in mind but would be highly relevant to any A level Biology course. It touches on introns and exons, how to read a triplet table and the nature of the genetic code being Universal, Non-overlapping and Degenerate, whilst recapping some of the basics on nucleotides and amino acids. Also included is a comprehensive markscheme which you could scroll through via a projector to review with your class.

***Get 90% off the cost of your first resource worth up to £10 with code JANUARY90. New buyers only!*** A comprehensive PowerPoint which takes students through the mutations that they need to know about for the AQA A-level spec (topic 3.8) - substitutions, Deletions, Additions, Inversions, Duplications, Translocations. The Worksheet is 4 sided and assesses their understanding of these mutations and the effect on protein structure. The later questions become challenging for the more able. Also included is a Markscheme to review the worksheet with students

Semi-Conservative DNA replicatiyon A Level activity - pipe cleaners, worksheet and presentation

(0)
***Get 90% off the cost of your first resource worth up to £10 with code JANUARY90. New buyers only!*** Engaging activity on DNA replication - students work through the sheet using pipe cleaners to explain why the evidence proves replication is semi-conservative and not conservative or dispersive. Focusses on the experiment involving bacteria grown on heavy and light N isotopes. All you will need are 2 pipe cleaners of one colour, and 14 of another colour, per group (cut them into shorter ones to make them go further!). It is a student led activity - the presentation is a markscheme which allows you to work through the correct answers via useful PowerPoint animations
