About Cove School
Cove School is a larger than average 11-16 secondary co-educational establishment, located in the north of Hampshire. We are a local authority school within easy commute of London, the historic city of Winchester and the beautiful scenery of the New Forest.
We are a forward thinking, caring and most important of all, happy school. Students of all abilities and social backgrounds work hard to achieve high standards. We pride ourselves on the support and CPD we offer to all staff, especially new staff entering the profession and the school. Having motivated, well-supported staff is key to the future success of every student who enters Cove.
We have developed a strong house system which provides highly effective care, guidance and support to meet the needs of all students. As a result, we are embedding a culture of, "every child, every classroom, every day achieving excellence." This is based around the Cove 5Cs – Courtesy, Cooperation, Commitment, Creativity and Challenge.
Extra-curricular provision is excellent with students having access to a wide range of sports activities, music and drama productions. In addition we offer a wide range of other clubs including science, chess, reading and computing, all of which contribute to the rich range of experiences for students at Cove. We also encourage members of staff to get involved.
Our student profile:
- Just under 1000 students on roll.
- Students eligible for free school meals is below national average.
- Students with disabilities and those with special educational needs is below national average.
- We have a specialist unit for students who are hearing impaired and all rooms are equipped with specialist audio equipment.
- Students from ethnic minorities are below national average.
- Students who enter Cove School from our local primaries are generally above national average in prior attainment.

Location
As an NQT and someone who had recently relocated from Birmingham, I was particularly apprehensive to start at Cove School. From the moment I walked through the door all staff were friendly and welcoming and this has continued throughout my time at Cove. Everyone is very willing to help and support me whenever I need it and have made me feel a part of the school
- NQT TeacherCove has a great community spirit, the students are keen to learn and show a high level of respect. Cove provides a nurturing environment, where you can build excellent classroom connections with students
- Middle LeaderCove School provides a happy, inclusive environment with a calm and business-like atmosphere. Pupils conduct themselves well around the site at all times. Pupils are polite, articulate and respectful to staff, visitors and each other. They take a pride in their uniform and their school and are eager to prove that the school's once tarnished reputation is a thing of the past.
