About North London Collegiate School Jeju
NLCS Jeju was the first NLCS International School to open its doors in 2011. It is located on the island of Jeju, in South Korea, but its proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, where in 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School.
In just a few years NLCS Jeju has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious and successful schools in East Asia. IB Diploma results are outstanding and the school’s graduates are attending some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges.
In keeping with the NLCS philosophy, the curriculum is aspirational and provides significant academic challenge for students. Students sit iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11 and follow the IB Diploma Programme through Years 12 and 13.
NLCS Jeju offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including accommodation, flights, health insurance and free places at the school for teachers’ children.
Location
The school is located on the picturesque island of Jeju, in South Korea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the centre of English education in Korea and the pre-eminent educational hub of Asia.
Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.

It’s demanding but very fulfilling if you are passionate about something you can really drive with it here and start something new. You are also given lots of opportunities to try new things out yourself.”
- Mark Eyton-Jones, Year 4 Class TeacherThe thing that really stood out to me was the emphasis on teachers with subject passion, that was something that I really valued and would really suit me. This is something that is valued throughout the school both by staff and students
- Thomas Pettifor, Teacher of Mathematics, Deputy Head of Sixth FormEvery child matters at NLCS Jeju and as Principal I believe passionately in the importance of the individual. We value each and every student at NLCS Jeju in their own right ensuring they are encouraged to develop his/her talents to the full in a community where there are no stereotypes and where every achievement, however small, is celebrated
- Lynne Oldfield, Principal at NLCS Jeju
