About The British School of Alzira

British School Alzira/Xativa/Gandia is a family of British schools in the Valencia region of Spain offering a high quality British education to students of all nationalities.

Our three excellent schools are co-educational and teach the British National Curriculum.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and NQTs.

Applications from teaching couples are also warmly invited.

In order to work in our school it is important that applicants have the right to work in Spain. Most commonly applicants are already resident in Spain or have an EU passport, including Ireland. Applicants with a British passport are not automatically eligible to work in Spain.

We ask that you have:

  • Enthusiasm and high expectations for all pupils;
  • An excellent knowledge of the curriculum and an ability to focus children on their learning by delivering engaging lessons;
  • A B.Ed., P.G.C.E or equivalent;
  • English as a first language. (There is no requirement for our teachers to speak Spanish.)

In return we offer a successful and caring school with children who are positive, eager to learn, have excellent standards of behaviour and supportive parents.

OUR SCHOOLS

Teachers in our schools work together to provide an exceptional standard of British education to our students enabling them to succeed and develop their education in universities in the United Kingdom, Spain and elsewhere in the world. Our schools are independent and co-educational centres.

British School Alzira opened in September 1997. It is situated in a stunning mountain location surrounded by orange groves, 40km to the south of Valencia, with an educational environment second to none.

British School Xativa opened in September 2009. Set in extensive grounds beneath the historic castle of Xativa it provides a modern and spacious learning environment.

British School Gandia, opened in September 2015, currently provides education from Pre-Nursery through to Year 8. Set in the coastal resort of Gandia, the school is growing rapidly.

On site facilities in all our schools include a library, tennis courts, swimming pools, an ICT suite, ballet room, indoor PE area, laboratories and shaded outdoor play areas.

Our full time psychology team including three educational psychologists, a speech therapist and a careers advisor work in both our schools to support pupils and teachers. They are also available to give advice to parents about any problems that may arise.

Staff work together across the three schools to provide a consistent learning experience for our pupils.

OUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET – OUR STAFF

All teachers are offered a full-time permanent contract from day one of working in our schools.

We have our own internal pay structure with a competitive salary for teachers in Spain. In addition, we have an incremental system that enables teachers who remain with us to receive an increased salary each year.

Benefits for teachers include free education fees for children, an annual flight allowance, work based private medical insurance and beneficial rates at a number of local businesses including opticians and dentists.

We also support teaching staff with all aspects of relocation. This includes a pastoral care administrator to register our teachers within the Spanish social security and health system. This person deals with all aspects of relocation including finding accommodation and supporting teachers in any aspect of their life here in Spain.
