Job overview

An exciting role has arisen in our creative and passionate School of Art as an Academic Coach.

 

Our Academic Coaches identify and support all students in achieving their expected target grades.

 

The role also is also responsible for providing the intervention support to the students that have gaps in literacy, numeracy, knowledge and academic skills to remove the barriers to learning and close the gaps. The role also involves managing and supporting the academic success of individual students by providing personal support following referrals from curriculum teams.

 

A key focus of this role is to facilitate academic workshop sessions and provide individual support via one-to-one and small-group intervention meetings.

 

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week

 

Responsibilities include:

*      Undertake and record individual one-to-one and small group tutorials, using a range of information and indicators

*      Adhere and comply with the College’s financial regulations.

*      Support curriculum teams in ensuring all students attend the study programme including maths and English to comply with funding regulations

*      Deal sensitively with confidential information Making referrals to other agencies as appropriate

*      Maintain effective and detailed individual records on the College’s Personal Learning Plan.

*      Report intervention activity to curriculum teams to ensure effective team working

*      Ensure the College’s Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies are adhered to.

*      Promote a positive image of the College in all contact with students, parents, employers and other stakeholders.

Education & Training

 

*      5 x GCSE grade A-C or 9-4 including the following:

o  Level 2 Literacy or equivalent. (e.g. GCSE A* - C)

o  Level 2 Numeracy or equivalent. Level 2 Numeracy or equivalent (e.g. GCSE A* - C)

*      Level 4 qualification

*      Are willing to achieve a Level 3 Certificate in Personal Tutoring within an agreed time frame

 

Experience

 

*      Successful experience working with young people on a 1:1 and group basis to achieve their career goals (in education, youth work or a community setting)

*      Proven experience of working with parents/carers of young people

*      Ability to work well with and relate to pupils and other professionals

*      Knowledge of how to use relevant equipment/resources including ICT packages
