This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a high level of expertise in Food Technology and preferably experience as an instructor or within a secondary school context, to work towards achieving a formal teaching qualification whilst in employment.

The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive package of support and CPD. They will benefit from what staff working at St Matthias describe as an extremely positive team approach to:

  • Plan and prepare lessons and courses for pupils
  • Deliver lessons to pupils
  • Assess the development, progress and attainment of pupils
  • Report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils
  • Work towards Qualified teacher status


The job requires a person who;

  • Has a Degree or equivalent level of qualification required to achieve Qualified Teacher status
  • Possess a qualification or equivalent expertise in the chosen subject (Food Technology)
  • Is able to build effective relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents
  • Has knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
