Job Title:     Assistant Headteacher

Salary:              Up to £55,000 per annum - dependent on experience 

Location:          New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire

Contract:          Permanent Term Time Only

Hours:              40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth in our service, we are recruiting for an Assistant Head to join our wonderful team at New Barn School located in Newbury! 

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher with a strong background in any of the following areas, Behaviour and Attitudes, Quality Of Education or Personal Development. The successful candidate will be passionate about building secure relationships with young people and will have the ability to motivate and develop staff in a team which prides itself as being collaborative and supportive.  

The Assistant Headteacher will:

  • Be an inspirational teacher looking to develop the curriculum. 
  • Be a person who thrives in a fun, yet challenging environment. 
  • Be an exceptional classroom teacher with high expectations of learning and behaviour. 
  • Have a good understanding of school improvement. 
  • Have a passion for building strong relationships with young people through trauma in forms and restorative working. 
  • Be someone who is resilient and approachable. 
  • Be a good communicator who is able to inspire and motivate pupils but also who can remain calm under pressure and have a sense of humour. 
  • Be creative in your teaching and strive to bring out the best in pupils. 


Essential

  • UK QTS or equivalent 
  • Experience of working with a multi-professional team
  • Experience of managing staff

New Barn School offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6–19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities.
