Crescendo HELP International School invites exceptional candidates for the position of Primary Assistant Principal. We are seeking a self motivated and dynamic leader committed to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, development and administration of excellence in pastoral and academic care in the Primary School and identifying students that may need support. The position also involves responsibility for liaising with the inclusion team and EAL Teams in the Primary School.
- Collaboration with the School’s Counsellor teams, and also liaises with the Secondary School Pastoral Team as students transition into this next phase of their schooling.
- To raise student achievement and improve the quality of teaching and learning at the School.
- Work closely with Curriculum Leadership Teams, and Heads of Year and Mile Post Coordinators and individual teachers to ensure that teaching practices are having the most positive impact on learning and students are achieving to their potential.
- Work closely with the Head of Primary in ensuring teaching staff are engaged in professional growth working closely with the Whole School Deputy Principal Professional Learning.
- Responsibility for contributing to the overall well-being and education of all students in the care of the School and for participating in leading, developing and maintaining the school’s mission and vision.
General : The Assistant Principal is expected to:
- Oversee the learning and well-being of all students and promote their love of learning.
- Model and promote the mission, vision, guiding principles and masteries.
- Contribute to continued school improvement consistent with our Strategic Aims
- Line manage the Staff Review and Development process
- Monitoring and Evaluations and promote a collaborative learning culture
- Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others.
- Fulfil the specific portfolio of responsibilities.
- Lead and facilitate sharing best practice.
- Lead with humility, develop teams and provide support and mentoring to others,
- Be an active and a visible presence in the School community.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Assistant Principal will complement and support the existing leadership structure to encompass arange of responsibilities including: curriculum development; assessment to inform progress and outcomes; pastoral care and well being; quality assurance and various leadership and management roles across Mile Post and Year groups in addition to specific areas from the strategic plan to reflect the priorities for the school.
1.Leadership: In relation to care, guidance, and support, the Assistant Principal is expected to:
- Oversee the development and implementation of care guidance and support programs
- Ensure effective care is provided for all students including overseeing matters such as uniform,serious discipline issues, provision of learning support, and record-keeping of attendance and communications.
- Provide support to staff in the management of issues involving students in the primary school.
- Interview parents and students regarding pastoral issues, as required
- Provide timely and effective communication to staff, students and parents about issues relating to student management and well-being.
- Facilitate conflict resolution between staff, students and/or parents.
2.Teaching & Learning:
- Ensure all teaching staff are informed about contemporary evidence-based pedagogies and lead teaching staff in their development in determined priority areas.
- Work closely with the Whole School Deputy Principal to ensure proper continuity and progression across the School’s scope and sequence documents
- Lead key areas in teaching and learning across the School including Inclusive Education, Literacy and Numeracy and working with the Whole School Deputy to promote technological innovation
- Analyse student outcomes (academic, engagement and well-being) to determine schoolwide priority areas relating to teaching and learning.
- Develop close working relationships with each Head of Year and Curriculum Leadership Teams to support them in planning and implementing the school-wide teaching & learning initiatives.
- Develop a close working partnership with the Assistant Principal, Pastoral Care
- Develop a close working partnership with the Secondary School Assistant Principal, Teaching & Learning in order to develop full continuity and progression of the curriculum and staff practice
3.Administration:
- Ensure that all policies are current and communicated effectively.
- Lead the process to select and develop student leaders.
- Ensure complete records are maintained for all students for students.
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Make effective use of technology to keep records and to communicate information to staff, parents and students.
4.Leadership of Professional Learning:
- Strengthen the culture of professional growth at the School.
- Provide teaching staff with up to date research relating to teaching practice.
- Work closely with the Curriculum Lead Teams regarding identifying and supporting the
- professional growth of staff.
- Oversee and support individual teacher growth through engagement with teachers and their individual Development Plans.
- Work closely with the Whole School Deputy Principal to provide and organise professional learning opportunities to support teacher growth in determined school priority areas including Professional Learning throughout the year.
5.Learning Outcomes:
- Ensure that the Pastoral and Curriculum Teams of the School are working together to provide the best conditions for student well-being, engagement and successful learning
- In collaboration with the Assistant Principal Pastoral Care, Lead the development and
- implementation of programs that develop student knowledge, understanding and skills
- that allow them to be successful, confident and self-regulating learners.
- Ensure all teaching staff and students use the school information management system effectively as a learning and record keeping tool.
- Ensure that the Pastoral and Curriculum Leadership Teams of the School are working together to provide the best conditions for student well-being, engagement and successful learning.
- Lead the development and implementation of programs that develop student knowledge, understanding and skills that allow them to be successful, confident and self-regulating learners
- Ensure all teaching staff and students use the school information management system effectively as a learning and record keeping tool.
