The Role
BC Academy International School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Secondary Performing Arts Teacher to join our expanding KS3 program. The successful candidate will specialize in drama, singing, or both, and will play a pivotal role in inspiring students’ creativity and confidence through dynamic lessons, performances, and events. This position provides an exciting opportunity to shape a robust performing arts curriculum while preparing students for individual and ensemble performances, school productions, and community events.

Applicants must be native English speakers and have at least 3-5 years experience working in a British Curriculum school. This role is suitable for a current Head or Deputy Head of Department, or even an aspiring middle leader.
This role is not suitable for NQT/ECT teachers.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons in performing arts, including drama and singing, aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
- Develop and implement a performing arts curriculum for KS3, with plans to expand into KS4 and KS5.
- Prepare students for performances, including school productions, concerts, assemblies, and external community events.
- Teach students acting techniques, vocal skills, and stagecraft to develop confidence and creativity.
- Organize and direct school-wide productions, plays, and musical showcases.
- Foster collaboration and teamwork through ensemble performances and group activities.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Promote inclusivity and self-expression by creating a safe and supportive classroom environment for all students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate performing arts into broader school initiatives and interdisciplinary projects.
- Ensure that all performances and events meet high professional standards in planning, rehearsals, and execution.
- Adhere to inspection and accreditation standards from entities such as the UAE Ministry of Education and British Schools Overseas (BSO).
Essential Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Music, or a related field; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification with QTS.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school.
- Expertise in teaching drama, singing, or both, with a proven track record of preparing students for performances.
- Experience directing and managing school productions and events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Familiarity with the British National Curriculum (KS3-KS5) and relevant assessment frameworks.
- Proficiency in using technology and multimedia tools to enhance performing arts instruction and productions.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan and execute rehearsals, performances, and events.
Desirable Requirements:
- Leadership experience, such as Head of Performing Arts or Director of School Productions.
- A Master’s degree in Education, Drama, Music, or related disciplines.
- Experience developing new educational phases, such as establishing KS3 or KS4 performing arts programs.
- Knowledge of inspection frameworks such as BSO, KHDA, or Ofsted, with experience in inspection preparation.
- Additional certifications or training in theater production, vocal coaching, or stage management.
- Experience working in an international, multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with modern pedagogical techniques, such as project-based learning and digital storytelling.
