Since opening in August 2024, BC Academy International School - Dubai, has seen great interest from our Dubai community. As such, we are expanding our Secondary School provision as we grow into KS3. We are looking for highly skilled and motivated subject specialists who can lead Teaching & Learning to initially set up KS3 for AY 24/25, and KS4-5 in the near future.

The Role 

BC Academy International School is seeking a dedicated and innovative Secondary Science Teacher with expertise in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry to join our expanding KS3 program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver a high-quality science curriculum in a state-of-the-art environment, with a focus on inquiry-based learning and preparing for the addition of KS4 and KS5 in the near future.

Applicants must be native English speakers and have at least 3-5 years experience working in a British Curriculum school. This role is suitable for a current Head or Deputy Head of Department, or even an aspiring middle leader.

This role is not suitable for NQT/ECT teachers.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver dynamic, student-centered science lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
• Specialize in one core subject area: Biology, Physics, or Chemistry, while supporting the teaching of general science in KS3.
• Foster curiosity and critical thinking through inquiry-based learning strategies, encouraging students to explore, hypothesize, and experiment.
• Integrate hands-on experiments, practical investigations, and real-world applications into teaching.
• Develop schemes of work and resources to prepare for the introduction of KS4 and KS5 science curricula.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and provide targeted support.
• Encourage interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with colleagues to connect science with other subject areas.
• Promote sustainability and environmental awareness within the science curriculum, aligning with the school’s values.
• Participate actively in whole-school activities, extracurricular programs, and community engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with inspection and accreditation standards from entities such as the UAE Ministry of Education and British Schools Overseas (BSO).

Essential Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) or a related field; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification with QTS.
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school.
• Native English speaker with excellent communication skills.
• Proven expertise in delivering engaging and practical science lessons with a focus on inquiry-based learning.
• Familiarity with the British National Curriculum (KS3-KS5), including assessment frameworks.
• Ability to differentiate lessons to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Strong organizational skills, with experience in curriculum planning and resource development.

Desirable Requirements:

• Leadership experience, such as Head or Deputy Head of Department.
• A Master’s degree in Education or a science-related discipline.
• Experience in developing or launching new educational phases, such as establishing KS3 or KS4 programs.
• Knowledge of inspection frameworks such as BSO, KHDA, or Ofsted, with experience in inspection preparation.
• Additional certifications in STEM education, sustainability, or science pedagogy.
• Experience teaching in an international, multicultural environment.
• Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches, including flipped classrooms and blended learning.
