Job overview

LE RĒGENT is seeking to appoint a Boarding House Assistant for our Senior Girls House, to assist with and contribute to the supervision and care of our boarding students. This is a residential position for the 2024-2025 academic year with the possibility to work during the summer with Régent Camps. It would suit a recently qualified graduate student looking to take a break after his/her studies or who is considering the teaching profession in the future.

LE RĒGENT is committed to character education and demanding educational principles. Academic quality curricula that are interwoven with extensive sporting, arts, and public-speaking programmes lead to the International Baccalaureate or the Régent Graduation Diploma for exceptional athletes and musicians. Class sizes are very small, language options strong and most graduates speak at least two languages fluently. LE RĒGENT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is an official examination centre for the IB Diploma Programme, DELF, SATs, IELTS and Edexcel IGCSEs.

Located in the mountains at an altitude of 1,500 metres, LE RĒGENT’s outdoor education programme comprising regular expeditions, climbing, river rafting, mountain camping, ski-touring and cross-country skiing, takes full advantage of the 300/365 sunny canton of Valais to provide students with the personal skills and understanding of nature that they have to preserve in the future.

Always thinking about the day after tomorrow, LE RĒGENT takes pride in the school community’s courage to understand and use the whole school as a creative laboratory. New inventions and promising ideas are tested and used to constantly improve the quality of education. Against this background, it will not come as a surprise that LE RĒGENT is an Apple Distinguished School and most teachers are accomplished and creative technology users inside and outside the classroom.

LE RĒGENT’s campus is the ideal boarding environment for students to become all they can be amongst inspiring fellow students and educators in a family-like atmosphere. Who our students are today is of great importance to us. To learn, however, who our students want to become and how they want to shape the world of tomorrow is even more important to all staff.

The House Assistant is responsible for overseeing the domestic running of the house; these include cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and medical arrangements for individual pupils. He/she is required to liaise with the Houseparents and/or Housestaff about the students' individual pastoral issues.

Provided by LE RĒGENT

  1. A gross monthly allowance
  2. If applicable, air travel to and from Le Régent from the airport at the stagiaire’s place of origin at the beginning and end of the contract.
  3. Accommodation is included for the duration of the contract
  4. Meals in our restaurant are included during term time
  5. Health and Accident is provided and paid for by Le Régent
  6. Ski pass for Crans-Montana

Organisational skills, flexibility, energy, and experience working with children are required. Some knowledge of both English and French, the ability to drive a car as well as a liking for outdoor activities and sports (especially winter sports) would be a distinct advantage as would a readiness to live in an alpine environment.

UK APPLICANTS

Unfortunately, we cannot consider UK applicants as the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration limits admissions of third-country nationals to "managers, specialists and other qualified workers".

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES

We reserve the right to appoint the right candidate ahead of the closing date. Le Régent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will therefore need to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
