• OFSTED rated Outstanding in July 2013 and April 2024

Our Community

We are committed to supporting young people to overcome the barriers that poverty and social exclusion create, ensuring that all students are able to achieve their full potential. This has inspired us to build up a broad network of partnerships, incubating and invigorating student experience, opportunity, drive and success.

There should be no barriers to a child’s future and society should, and can, be a level playing field. Aspiring for this to be reality we promise to:

• Emphasise high quality subject teaching, reinforced by excellent support for learning and intervention.

• Deliver inclusion services that assist personal development.

• Provide excellent pastoral care so no student goes unsupported.

• Continually develop strong leadership and have high levels of expertise in education.

The East London Teaching School Hub

Mulberry School for Girls was delighted to be designated by the Department of Education as the lead school for Hackney and Tower Hamlets Teaching School Hub (TSH) in February 2021 and has been redesignated for a further 4 years (2024-2028).

There are no great schools without great teachers, and it is the role of Teaching School Hubs to provide the best quality professional development so teachers can be their very best!

Teaching School Hubs have five core responsibilities:

1.      Delivery of Initial teacher training (ITT)

2.      ITT strategic role: supporting schools to engage with ITT

3.      Delivery of the Early Career Framework (ECF)

4.      Providing Appropriate Body (AB) services for Early Career Teachers

5.      Delivery of the full suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)

Over the last three years, we have embarked upon an exciting start-up and rapid growth phase to ensure that we realise our ambition to create a collegiate professional learning community. To date, we have supported over 1400 Early Career Teachers and their mentors training on the Early Career Framework Provider-led Programme with us and over 900 teachers and leaders on our National Professional Qualification programmes. We have teachers and leaders from 88% of Tower Hamlets and Hackney schools learning with us and colleagues from a further 238 schools outside our designated region engaging with our programmes. We are working in partnership with four strategic local partners to deliver our ECF Full Induction Programme and have over thirty facilitators from a range of local Hackney and Tower Hamlets schools collaborating with us to deliver our programmes. We also are the Appropriate Body for over 530 ECTs supporting them with their two-year induction. We are really excited about what the next four years holds.

Mulberry College of Teaching

Mulberry College of Teaching (MCoT) is the Mulberry Schools Trust’s new accredited Initial Teacher Training provision. We are deliberately small and are specialising in secondary English teacher training to begin with. Our aim is to offer a route into teaching to graduates who share our commitment to inclusive education and whom want to learn their craft in our vibrant inner-city schools. We welcome our first cohort of trainee teachers in September 2024.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a Business Manager (ELTSH and MCoT) to join our strategic and operational senior leadership team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape professional development at a regional level, leaving a lasting impact on education. As a key member of our strategic and operational senior leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in creating the conditions necessary to ensure the professional learning programmes offered by ELTSH are of the highest quality with high-levels of engagement.

Mulberry College of Teaching (MCoT) is a new growth project and will require careful financial and business management. The postholder will be expected to research and build a specialist knowledge in the financial, business and compliance management of accredited ITE provision for the Trust.

This is a hands-on role offering opportunities for you to implement business solutions whilst enhancing your skills as a business manager with specialist knowledge of teacher education.

Do talk to us about flexible working. Core working days will be based in our Hub office with some remote working as an option.

If you're passionate about making a tangible and sustained difference in inner-city inclusive education, we encourage you to apply and be part of our ongoing journey towards educational excellence.

Closing Date: 9am, Friday 12th July 2024

Interviews: week beginning 15th July 2024

Start Date: September 2024 or as soon as possible

Candidates who are selected for interview will be informed following the shortlisting process and full details of the interview will be provided. If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date of the position, unfortunately, you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS clearance. We are dedicated to equality and valuing diversity.

A message from the CEO, Dr Vanessa Ogden

Mulberry School for Girls is a high achieving, over-subscribed and successful girls’ comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 18. It is a place where girls’ talents and abilities are nurtured in a safe creative space and where they can develop their ambitions and the power for self-determination. Our aim is that all pupils should leave the school as highly qualified, confident and articulate young women with a wealth of experience in the wider world. Outstanding academic achievement is very important for future success, as is the need to develop ‘Confidence, Creativity, Leadership’ and a life-long ‘Love of Learning’. We believe these things will enable our pupils to lead enriched, happy and fulfilled lives, making a contribution to their own community, to British society and to global well-being.

Mulberry is an inclusive school with a wealth of multi-agency support employed by us to support pupils and their families. Provision for special educational needs is excellent. There is an outstanding enrichment programme which includes Global Classrooms, women’s education conferences, Girl Guides, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Mulberry Theatre Company. Mulberry’s arts education programme is well-known in London and we count the National Theatre, the British Film Institute, the Donmar Warehouse, the Royal Court Theatre and Southbank Centre amongst our valued partners. There is also a strong family provision with a range of events, classes and courses for parents. We hope you will come and visit.
