Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Work Placement Officer to join our highly successful Sixth Form College. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, development and administration of the Care courses work placements.

The Work Placement Officer will work as part of our highly successful Faculty for Science, Social Science and Care. The college offers a wide range of courses in this area including From Level 1 to Level 3 and including A levels and T levels. The faculty has dedicated teaching spaces including a hospital suite, a nursery and practical laboratories. The post holder will work together with the Early Years and Health and Social Care teaching teams to effectively sequence placements to match course delivery and ensure that our high levels of professional standards in placement locations are maintained.

Itchen College is a thriving Sixth Form College with a broad curriculum offer to meet the needs of the local community. The college is situated in pleasant surroundings to the east of Southampton with excellent local transport links. Ofsted inspected the college in December 2021, grading overall provision as Good with Outstanding Quality of Education, Outstanding Education Programmes for Young People and Outstanding Provision for Learners with High Needs.

The college is committed to supporting staff wellbeing and professional development. The college has an excellent in house CPD programme for all teaching and support staff including a dedicated programme for Early Career Teachers. The college also has close links with the Southampton Education Forum, the Wessex Group and the SFCA, including subject groups and CPD opportunities at all levels. Contract: Part-time, term time only, 30 hours per week over five days.

Itchen College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college in Hampshire, serving students from the age of 16-19. The college, situated in Southampton has approximately 1,558 learners on record.

Itchen College was founded in 1906 as a co-educational secondary school and later Itchen Grammar School. It welcomes learners from across the world, with 10% making up international students. Facilities on the campus include a sports centre, performing arts block – features Apple Mac suites, recording studios and soundproof music rooms, and a Student Centre for students to relax in during their study breaks.
