Hours:           37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm

Contract:       Permanent, Term time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Cover Supervisor/Humanities Instructor to join our close-knit team at Reddish Hall School located in Stockport.

About the role

The main purpose of the role is to provide high-quality and learning cover across the school, with a small allocation of delivering Humanities subjects on a regular basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading whole classes, managing challenging behaviours, and ensuring all pupils remain focused and on track to meet their lesson objectives.

This role is crucial in maintaining consistency and continuity of education for the pupils, particularly when teachers are absent or engaged in other school activities.

Essential

  • Excellent ability to engage and motivate pupils with complex needs, including SEMH and ASC.
  • Knowledge of curriculum subjects.
  • Strong behaviour management skill and the resilience to work with pupils who display challenging behaviours.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, able to quickly adjust lessons and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a school setting, particularly with pupils who have special educational needs.
  • QTS (or equivalent), with relevant experience.
  • A relevant qualification in education or a related field (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Creativity and innovation in developing learning opportunities that are tailored to pupils’ interests and learning styles.

Reddish Hall is an independent SEMH school situated in Stockport, meeting the needs of students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The aim of the school is to encourage pupils to achieve and succeed personally, academically, socially and develop their self confidence that will enable them to cope in everyday situations and manage the transition from school to college or work environments. By rebuilding self-esteem and forging positive relationships, our pupils replace failure with success.

Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour- all of our young people have an Education Health Care Plan. The school accepts pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our pupils have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All pupils attending Reddish Hall School have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.
