As a Church of England Academy, we have a strong ethos which is based around our values of Wisdom, Optimism, Resilience, Kindness and Service through which we live and breathe our motto of Succeeding Together. The school currently has 1650 students on roll including 350 students in the sixth form and 40 students in the junior department. We are regularly amongst the top schools in Nottinghamshire for achievement and attainment.
Alongside serving our own students, we are the home of East Midlands East Maths Hub, a strategic partner of the Redhill Teaching Hub and a member of the Minster Learning Alliance. The Minster School is a member of the Minster Trust for Education (MITRE), a multi academy trust.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and committed Cover Supervisor who shares our vision and ambitions for our young people. This role is ideal for an ambitious person who may or may not be looking to develop a career in teaching.
You will be joining a highly motivated and passionate group of staff who work tirelessly in the best interests of the students. All work will be under the guidance of the Lead Cover Supervisor and appropriate subject leaders, within an agreed system of supervision and will involve supervising whole classes and tutor sessions during short-term teacher absence, providing support in curriculum areas and providing daily break and lunch time supervision.
Please note - this role could be made into a Graduate Teaching Intern role. If you feel this would be of more interest, please get in touch with l.caunt@minsterschool.org.uk for further details. This is a fixed term role on the same pay scale, but with the focus on supporting how to get into teaching.
Candidates should apply through the TES website and follow the guidance notes as provided. CV’s will not be accepted. For further information about how to apply for this role, please read our ‘Guidance notes for applicants’ document which will be posted on the TES website under the job listing.

About The Minster School
The Minster School is a highly successful secondary school, serving the local community of Southwell and surrounding villages. As a Church of England Academy we have a strong ethos which is based around our values of Wisdom, Optimism, Resilience, Kindness and Service through which we live and breath our motto of Succeeding Together. The school currently has 1600 students on role including 350 students in the sixth form and 40 students in the Junior School. We are oversubscribed and are regularly in the top schools in Nottinghamshire for attainment and progress.
Alongside serving our own students, we are a national support school, the home school of East Midlands East Maths Hub and lead a Learning Alliance providing Initial Teacher Training, Professional Learning and School Improvement support. The Minster School is also the foundation school in the Minster Trust for Education (MITRE).
The school can trace its origins to 956AD where it provided the education to the choristers of Southwell Minster. Whilst still maintaining its heritage and history the school is now a vibrant and forward-looking academy housed in a state-of-the-art building built in 2007. We are passionate about learning and developing new ways to engage, challenge and support students in their studies.
As a school we believe strongly that students should have a broad and immersive experience throughout their school life. As a result, enrichment remains a key part of our provision. Whether it be our highly anticipated musical productions, sporting success or our wide variety of extra-curricular visits, we believe that learning should flourish beyond the classroom.
At the heart of all that we do is a drive to enable all members of our school community to work together, care for each other and strive to realise their potential in their studies and all other aspects of life.
An extract from our last Ofsted inspection (November 2023):
“The school is very well led and managed. Leaders lead with a strong moral purpose. They have high expectations of pupils’ learning, attitudes and behaviour. Overwhelmingly, staff say that they are proud to work at the school. They have high aspirations for all pupils. They are committed to, and make a positive difference in, pupils’ lives.”
