We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to cover the classes of absent teachers using pre-prepared exercises while ensuring the effective management of student behaviour. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication, inter-personal and organisational skills and be able to use their initiative to respond to classroom situations.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility and an ability to work under pressure as this role requires the post holder to adapt to different demands at short notice, due to the nature of cover requirements in a busy school.
Salary: Dependant on experience
Permanent appointment
Working 5 days per week
(Term Time at 38 weeks + 5 INSET Days)
Job Description
Duties will include:
· supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
· introducing the work to the children outlining any key concepts that need to be learnt
· managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
· responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures
· collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
· Organising cover for absent teachers including contacting and arranging supply teachers
· Taking calls from teachers that will be reporting in sick, organise cover and alert HR to absences
· Undertake any work that is deemed appropriate by the SLT when not covering

You will provide a daily cover service as directed by the Cover Manager and assist with the education and care of the students, ensuring high standards of attainment and achievement through the provision of cover lessons. You should enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with young people across years 5-8. This is an exciting chance to play a pivotal role in a supportive and friendly team in a warm and welcoming school.
You should also have:
- Basic language, literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Be educated to a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) level
- Good communication skills and a commitment to equal opportunities
