It is an exciting time to join St John Bosco College as we continue our journey towards being an outstanding Roman Catholic, Salesian school and our success can be credited to our committed and dedicated staff who strive for excellence and promote high aspirations throughout the school.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor. The cover supervisor will support classes in the absence of a teacher, ensuring that high standards of behaviour and learning are met and students engage in the work set. We are looking for someone with experience of working with students.  This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and friendly teaching team.

As a Cover Supervisor you will:

·        Be able to continue the learning of students, even in the absence of their regular teacher, carrying out work pre-set by a subject specialist

·        Be required to effectively conduct a variety of lessons and manage the students' behaviour in a calm and collected manner

·        Lead 1:1 or small group literacy and pastoral support sessions

·        Be required to lead and supervise after school enrichment activities for our students

·        Serve the mission of St John Bosco College by supporting a high-quality education to raise student wellbeing, emotional resilience, and achievement

Our school is committed to continual professional development, which makes this a great opportunity to further develop your skills as the school offers a programme of regular training.

Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea and strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ‘earn their own bread’.

Early applications are welcome and we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date if we find a suitable candidate.

Please note that if you complete the application on an Apple Mac you must use ‘Adobe Acrobat Reader’ (you can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ ) and not the ‘Preview’ application that comes with the computer due to an incompatibility.

CVs are not accepted.

Closing date: Monday 9 December 2024 (12 Noon)

Interview Date: w/c 16 December (date to be confirmed)

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

St John Bosco College is located in the heart of Battersea a short distance from Clapham Junction and Battersea Bridge.  We are an 'outstanding' Catholic School (Section 48 inspection June 2019) rated were 'good' by Ofsted in our most recent inspection (October 2022).

At St John Bosco College we believe that there should be no limit on what our pupils can achieve and we expect everyone who joins us to aim high and always do their best. With a broad and balanced curriculum, excellent teaching, a modern purpose-built school and a caring, nurturing ethos; we provide an excellent environment where all of our pupils can reach their full potential.

“Saint John Bosco is a Catholic college, but admits pupils from a wide range of faiths and cultures and these differences are embraced and celebrated” Ofsted

We want our pupils to work hard but also enjoy life in school.  We provide many enrichment activities; sporting, work experience, cultural and charitable; for our pupils to learn and grow beyond the confines of the classroom.  We believe that these opportunities enable our pupils to grow and develop into well-rounded young men and women who will leave here fully equipped for life beyond school.

“Staff know each and every pupil and relationships are consequently highly positive.” Ofsted

Our identity as a Roman Catholic school and our school’s distinctive Salesian ethos is based on St John Bosco’s vision that ‘it is not enough for every child to be loved… they must know that they are loved’. We provide strong pastoral support and a high level of care for every student, regardless of their background.  We are a community where everyone is highly valued as an individual.

“Pupils mix well in this harmonious environment and benefit from personalised support and guidance” Ofsted

Whilst we are justifiably proud of our school and of the achievements of the young people who have already studied here we are equally excited about the future and the potential of the young people joining our school to achieve great things in the years ahead.

“The school’s vision that ‘it is not enough for young people to be loved, they must know that they are loved’ permeates the school’s culture” Ofsted
