Job overview

PACE British school is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and proactive Data Manager who will work closely with Senior and Middle Leaders to present data ranging form academic assessments to attendance.

The data manager will play a crucial role at PBS, particularly in an educational context where data-driven decision-making is becoming increasingly essential. especially in the context of supporting inspections, ongoing data analysis, attendance management, and reporting:

1. Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Informed Decisions: A data manager ensures that accurate and relevant data is readily available, which is crucial for making informed decisions. By analysing trends and patterns, SLT can make strategic decisions that enhance educational outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: SLT will be able to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to student achievement, teacher effectiveness, and operational efficiency, providing insights that drive improvements.

2. Support for Inspections

  • Compliance and Readiness: A data manager can ensure that all necessary data is collected, organised, and readily accessible for inspections.
  • Evidence-Based Reporting: Inspections often require evidence of progress and effectiveness. A data manager can do the number crunching which would then allow SLT the opportunity to present this data in a structured manner, showing inspectors that the organisation is meeting its targets and regulatory requirements.

3. Ongoing Data Analysis

  • Identifying Trends: Continuous data analysis helps identify trends over time, such as changes in student performance, attendance, and engagement. This will allow leaders time for early identification of negative trends and timely interventions.
  • Resource Allocation: By understanding data patterns, SLT can help allocate resources more effectively, ensuring that support is directed where it is most needed.

4. Attendance Management

  • Improving Attendance: A data manager can help MLT/SLT track attendance patterns and help identify students or groups with high absenteeism rates. This allows the school leaders to implement targeted interventions to improve attendance.
  • Predictive Analysis: By analysing historical attendance data, Heads of Year can help predict potential attendance issues and suggest proactive measures.

5. Reporting and Communication

  • Accurate Reporting: A data manager ensures that reports generated for SLT, staff, parents, and external stakeholders are accurate, relevant, and timely.
  • Data Visualisation: They can use data visualisation tools such as Power Bi to present complex data in an understandable format, making it easier for all stakeholders to grasp key information quickly

6. Supporting Strategic Planning

  • Long-Term Planning: A data manager can provide insights that support long-term strategic planning, ensuring that the organisation is prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
  • Goal Setting: Data insights help in setting realistic and achievable goals, aligning with the overall vision and mission of the organisation.

7. Risk Management

  • Identifying Risks: A data manager can prepare data that MLT/SLT can analyse to identify potential risks, such as declining student performance or increasing absenteeism, allowing for early intervention.
  • Mitigating Risks: By providing data-driven insights, a data manager helps in developing strategies to mitigate identified risks, thus safeguarding the organisation’s interests.
