Queen Berengaria School opened in January 2023 and is an amalgamation of two primary schools. Queen Berengaria School is Located in Dhekelia, serving two communities and with a diverse population of Army, Navy, RAF and Civilian families. FS2 – Year 6 children are educated in the main school building in Dhekelia, whilst FS1 children are educated in the Early Years Settings located in Ayios Nikolaos and Dhekelia.

Children are at the heart of what we do in QBS, priding ourselves in creating a culture which allows all to flourish and achieve. We aim to ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve – Together’ and have an experienced staff team who have supported our Service Families for many years. Despite being a relatively new school, we are well-regarded in the local community.

QBS are looking for a dynamic, inspirational, caring, and excellent leader, for whom our values and ethos resonate, to become part of our team.

QBS offers an English education, drawing on our host nation’s culture, to children between 3 and 11 years of age. Numbers on roll vary with assignments and usually we have approximately 300 children. Classes are structured in single year groups with 2-form entry. The senior leadership team consists of a Head Teacher (HT), Deputy Head Teacher (DHT) and 2 Assistant Headteachers (AHT). The AHTs are an integral part of the senior leadership team within the schools with whole school responsibilities.

The purpose of the job is:

  • Leading and contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, School Improvement Plan, practices, and procedures.
  • Modelling excellence in Teaching and Learning.
  • Leading on Performance Management, ensuring staff are supported, valued, and held to account.
  • Leading, co-ordinating and reviewing the curriculum offer.
  • Raising Teaching & Learning standards in KS1 and Early Years and overseeing statutory and non-statutory assessments.
  • Supporting the Head Teacher to deliver the vision and improvement.
  • Leading and participating in the monitoring and evaluation of quality of education being achieved across the school.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing an inclusive environment for children with SEND.
  • Undertake a teaching commitment.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff with their professional development, ensuring that this has the desired impact.
  • Work closely with the Military Command, key stakeholders in Dhekelia/Ayios Nikolaos and the wider community.
