Job overview

Delta Academies Trust is looking to appoint a Deputy Director for Exchange Teacher Training to join the growing Exchange Teacher Training (ETT) team on a part-time temporary basis.

This is a part-time temporary role to start as soon as possible, ideally in January 2025 until 25 July 2025, for 26 hours per week and be based at Education House in Knottingley.

We seek an exceptional leader and teacher who will support the establishment of our new ITT Provider, Exchange Teacher Training, ensuring that it attracts colleagues to the teaching profession, providing the life-blood of teachers to schools in Yorkshire and the Humber - and beyond. The successful applicant will ensure that they inspire teachers and leaders of the future and that all trainees experience a rich training experience and are well-equipped to begin their teaching careers.

In its first year of delivery, Exchange Teacher Training is a DfE-accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in the North of England. It is founded upon a well-established partnership of credible organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber, and Lincolnshire, united by a common goal to improve the quality of education for children and young people. Exchange Teacher Training offers an ambitious, evidence-informed programme to develop reflective practitioners who will inspire the next generation and improve both the outcomes and life chances of the young people we serve. We aim to provide the highest quality, impactful and localised ITT that truly makes a difference.

The successful candidate will be able to articulate a clear vision for the provider inspiring and empowering others to share in achieving it. They will be driven by a commitment to creating the best possible training opportunities for our trainees, in order to raise aspirations and transform lives. They will bring expertise in supporting trainee teachers with a strong track record in the professional development of others. The Deputy will have experience at either middle or senior leadership level and of developing others. Experience of working within the teacher development landscape is a distinct advantage, and expertise at secondary phase is essential.

If you would like to find out more about the role, please contact Jo Twiby, Executive Director, or Rebecca Turner, Head of Exchange Teacher Training, on 0345 195 003.

Delta Academies Trust is an exempt charity with its values drawn from the public sector and Directors appointed on a voluntary basis. We are one of the largest multi academy trusts in the North of England with a passion and drive to improve the education experience for all pupils and students regardless of where they live.

Delta operates as a single multi-academy sponsor and in that capacity is one employer across all the Academies which it sponsors.

Delta has a proven track record, as well as the educational expertise, capacity and experience to secure transformational change and sustainable academy improvement in the schools which it supports through sponsorship. It is currently responsible for the leadership and governance of a number of academies including infant, primary, secondary and free schools.

With a predecessor educational trust history going back to 2004, Delta, has an impressive record in school improvement and has established an organisation which provides a 21st Century model for collaboration within the public sector and is a ‘not for profit’ organisation with public accountability.

Due to the size of the Trust and the locations of our academies/schools, we're really well placed to offer all kinds of varied career paths. So, whether you're looking for the challenge of a new role, want to learn new skills, try a new location, or progress to bigger opportunities, we'd love to talk to you.

We provide the support and opportunities you may need to develop and its up to you to make the most of these, but we’ll help you with lots of learning opportunities, both informal and formal, designed to help you develop inside of work – and outside too.

Working for us is all about passion, and we have lots of people who are really passionate about what they do – teaching assistants, IT technicians, teachers, caterers, leaders and curriculum experts. We love it when our people get creative, muck in and have fun. Of course, we look for people who love learning, helping others to grow and care about the students and communities we serve.

We encourage all of the people who work for us to take ownership and do everything necessary to create a standout experience for our students.

Ask our people what they get up to day to day and they’ll all tell you how much they enjoy the variety, pace, and challenge of working in one of our academies, schools or Head Office. This flexibility isn’t just part of our working day – we understand that our people have lives, and want them to also enjoy their friends, family, hobbies and commitments outside of work.

Our academies offer safe and secure surroundings and the pleasure of working with great people. Working with our students and communities is pretty interesting too and you’ll play an essential role adding to their experience of education and also of Delta Academies Trust.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. We make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the Trust by being a member of the Disability Confident scheme. This helps us to recruit and retain high quality, skills and hard working people from a wider talent pool.
