Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Head Academic (Primary) to join the Primary School Leadership Team and Extended Senior Leadership Team as the Primary School continues to grow.

King Henry VIII College opened in September 2018 and is the sister school to Christ College, Brecon, one of the oldest schools in the UK. Whilst they are linked through the school motto, each has its distinctive character underpinned by similar values and ethos.

King Henry VIII College is situated in the modern, urban setting of Cyberjaya; a rapidly developing planned township between Kuala Lumpur City Centre and KL International Airport.

There are just over 400 children in the Primary School at KH8, and we are looking to grow to a capacity of 500 within the next few years. The staff comprises fully qualified expat class teachers who are genuinely excited about educating the children in their care. KH8 Primary is a vibrant and exciting place to work. We value enthusiastic, proactive staff who are keen on positively impacting the lives of students through teaching and learning as well as pastoral care.

The successful applicants for our teaching positions will join a dedicated team. Each member of that team has a vital role in setting the tone for the school, and ensuring the school establishes itself as a leading school in Malaysia, South East Asia and beyond.

How to apply

Applicants should complete and submit the school's application form, which is attached here; a CV and cover letter should also be attached. Applications may also be submitted to:

primaryhead@kinghenryviii.edu.my

The application deadline is November 25th 2024. The successful applicant will take up post in August 2025.

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to fill posts before the deadline for applications if a suitable candidate is found.

Further information about King Henry VIII College is available on the school’s website: www.kinghenryviii.edu.my

Our recruitment practices adhere to international and UK best practices, prioritising child protection. To ensure the highest standards, we conduct rigorous interviews, identity checks, criminal record checks, and reference checks. Successful candidates will be required to undergo child protection screening. All appointments are contingent upon the successful completion of these checks.

In 2016, as Christ College Brecon commemorated the 475th Anniversary of its founding, the school signed an agreement with DBH Holdings of Malaysia to set up its first international school.

King Henry VIII College is a fully-fledged sister school to Christ College Brecon, and replicates its structure, values, and ethos. Christ College was founded by King Henry VIII in 1541 by Royal Charter, and is a co-educational independent day and boarding school set in the Brecon Beacons National Park,

King Henry VIII College is located in the modern, global tech hub of Cyberjaya - a rapidly-developing planned township, mid-way between Kuala Lumpur City Centre and KL International Airport. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia, with an estimated population of 1.7 million.

KH8 aims to provide an outstanding education based on traditional values of tolerance and mutual respect, supported by sector-leading boarding and pastoral care, outstanding teaching, and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.

The academic offer at KH8 is of British inspiration, modelled on that at Christ College, with a broad, modern subject selection. Students will sit Cambridge International IGCSE’s and AS/A levels, preparing them to go on to study at top universities world-wide.
