About Akademeia

Akademeia High School is an academically-selective school in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses. The majority of our students are preparing to study at Oxbridge, Russell group, and Ivy League universities as well as acclaimed architecture, art and music schools. With a rigorous admissions process and A Level classes taught in the form of undergraduate seminars, the school pursues a pre-university university model. About the role

The Deputy Head Pastoral will oversee and manage pastoral care, creating a positive and safe learning environment where every student experiences a sense of achievement and belonging. This role is integral to both the strategic development and daily management of the school. Reporting to the Headmaster, you will be responsible for upholding and promoting the school’s values and mission. The Deputy Head Pastoral is also expected to teach a reduced timetable within an academic department.

Key responsibilities

·       Deputise for the Headmaster, as required

·       To oversee all aspects of the day-to day pastoral care in the school and implementation of school values through pastoral programme

·       To act as a member of the Safeguarding Team within the school and coordinate any investigations related to students’ safeguarding, when needed

·       To oversee the RSHE programme across all year groups

·       To act as line manager to the Head of Wellbeing and ensure the implementation of wellbeing support and special educational needs provision

·       To act as line manager to the Head of Boarding House and ensure comfortable conditions for boarders and supervisors

·       To assist in the ongoing review and monitoring of school policies and implementation of these, in relation to the international and Polish frameworks

·       In liaison with the Director of Operations, to oversee the running of local and international trips and outings

·       To work with the Senior Leadership and Heads of Departments to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive induction of new staff members

·       To work with the Senior Leadership Team to oversee the construction and content of the school Calendar

·       To communicate necessary information to parents and students regarding pastoral care provision through general and individual meetings

·       To promote and oversee the reinforcement of good behaviour

·       To oversee the implementation of any disciplinary measures against students

·       To liaise with and facilitate the running of AHS Parents Association

·       A strong team player

·       Experience managing and leading groups of teachers (desirable)

·       Experienced in managing the pastoral development of pupils (desirable)
