Job overview

Ladybridge High School is a happy and successful school with a clear mission and agreed beliefs that are shared as a school community.  We are focused on enabling our learners to achieve excellent academic outcomes whilst developing personal qualities that enable them to thrive in the future.  More information about our distinctive educational philosophy can be found here.

The wonderfully diverse population of learners, the emphasis on professional learning for staff and the friendly atmosphere make Ladybridge an interesting and enjoyable place to work.  We believe that year on year improvement is best achieved through strong relationships and high quality training opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint a new Deputy Headteacher with the drive and determination to enable our school to step closer to the vision of the Ladybridge Trivium.  The successful candidate will jointly lead the school, ensuring knowledge sticks and promoting learning that is authentic and that connects with the world beyond the classroom.  A commitment to developing learners’ agency and independence is vital.

We have a strong belief that education is about more than great exam results.  Whilst achieving excellent outcomes at Key Stage Four is vital - we place equal importance on the provision of our arts curriculum, the development of our outdoor learning provision at Key Stage Three and cross-curricular project based learning that engages our local community.

The specific responsibilities will be agreed following the appointment.  We wish to keep the responsibilities of the new Deputy Headteacher open to allow us to appoint the right candidate.  We wish to appoint a new Deputy Headteacher who has the ambition to be a Headteacher within the next three to four years.

Interested colleagues should complete the application form and submit, with a letter of application to outline how your experiences to date prepare you for this role.  In addition to this, please outline how a ‘Trivium’ approach to education can prepare learners both for their exams in Year 11 and for their life beyond school.

Please note that CVs and late applications will not be accepted.

About Ladybridge High School

Message from the Headteacher

I took up the post of Headteacher at Ladybridge High School in the summer term 2019.  I am proud to lead this diverse, happy and successful school.  Please visit our school website, available here, to learn more about our school.  I would also like to encourage you to watch our promotional film, which is available below.

In all, over 37 different languages are spoken at Ladybridge.  We are extremely proud of our rich diversity and the strength of relationships across the school.  Staff are committed to ‘going the extra mile’, and learners appreciate this. Visitors to the school often remark upon the school’s sense of warmth, of purpose and of pride.

There are significant opportunities for professional learning and development for successful candidates.  We aspire to be an ‘evidence-informed’ school where teachers are encouraged to read, research, collaborate and take calculated risks in the classroom.  Teachers have significantly more non-contact time than the national average to provide time to plan high quality lessons and to ensure an appropriate work-life balance.

We are currently undergoing building refurbishment and a building extension.  The extension will allow us to accommodate more learners to meet the rising demand from families who wish to send their children to Ladybridge.   The refurbishment will enable us to provide first-rate facilities across all subject areas and will add to an already distinctive and impressive school site that includes a farm, leisure centre and swimming pool.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to visit the school prior to submitting an application.
