Minimum qualification requirements:
- B.Ed (Hons) with QTS or equivalent (e.g., PGCE, PGDE)
Main Job and Responsibilities:
As an integral part of our team, you will:
- Provide support to students in FS/KS1 or KS2.
- Cover for absent teachers when needed in FS/KS1 or KS2, ensuring adherence to plans left by the classroom teacher and completing all assessment and marking.
- Deliver a comprehensive English as an Additional Language (EAL) Service, including consultation, case formulation, assessment, and interventions related to learning for children using English as an Additional Language.
- Conduct daily interventions and observations for children with additional needs, offering assistance in teaching phonics to small groups.
- Ensure high-standard planning, assessments, and observations, with regular reviews and effective communication to line managers and parents.
- Offer written reports and informal dialogues to parents on children's development, progress, and attainment.
- Monitor the progress of children being worked with and advise other staff members on maximizing learning opportunities (IEPs, ILPs, etc.).
- Build and maintain professional relationships within the school community.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrate an interest in EAL learners with experience and training in supporting children with these needs.
- Possess an understanding of children's cognitive development and how to maximize it, especially in young learners.
- Utilize teaching methods that capture pupils' interest, maintain engagement, and instill a lifelong love of learning.
- Exhibit strong organizational and class management skills for an effective learning environment.
- Showcase excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Have experience or knowledge in planning lessons and activities for EAL learners.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team in planning and implementing the school's curriculum, strategic plans, and policies.
- Display resilience and adaptability to work in a different cultural setting.
- Commit to continuous professional development and the principle of continuous improvement.
- Uphold high standards of child safety and safeguarding, acting responsibly at all times.
- Commit to representing the school positively both inside and outside the classroom, adhering to high standards of respect ingrained in Thai culture and international mindedness.
- Think creatively, use your initiative, and think critically to provide the best possible opportunities for the children at our school.
Requirements:
- At least 1 year's teaching experience.
- Fluent English speaker.
- Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum is essential.
- Up-to-date DBS or police check equivalent to work with children.
- Essential experience in working with EAL learners.
- Knowledge of the UK Foundation Stage Curriculum (Development Matters) or equivalent is an advantage.
- English as an Additional Language training is advantageous.
- Previous experience working as or alongside an EAL/ESL teacher is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the IEYC/IPC curriculum is an advantage.
- Experience in teaching the Read Write Inc. phonics program or alternative is advantageous.
Contract type:
- 2-year contract (renewable).
