About the role

To lead and extend the children's learning in an engaging manner on a day-to-day basis

Encourage and assist the children in developing their independent skills

Observe and assess the children in their learning and using this to plan provocations and themes in response

To be an integral and positive member of the Early Years Foundation Stage team

Hours to discuss during interview can be 20 to 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks worked per year

Fixed Term Maternity cover role- provisional start date 7/01/2025 for a fixed term until 31st August 2025

Who we are looking for

  • NVQ/ Early Years Education- Level 2 or above
  • English and Math's at grade C or above GCSE/ Equivalent
  • Appropriate First Aid Training
  • Recent EYFS accredited training
  • Strong working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
  • Ability to understand the principles of child development and learning processes, including barriers to learning
  • Ability to lead teaching and learning and to direct a team effectively
  • Ability to build effective and supportive relationships with parents/carers and the team around the child
  • Strong use of IT
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies / codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
  • Working knowledge of National / Foundation Stage curriculum and other relevant learning programs.
  • Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes
  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
  • Experience of working with Early Years or Primary school aged children
  • Experience of leading groups of children where learners make good progress
  • Experience supporting learning across all subject areas of the EYFS or National Curriculum
