Bury college is welcoming applications for an Exam Access Arrangement Tutor, the role is a full time opportunity, and the purpose is to contribute towards ensuring learners have a good college experience and achieve their potential. The successful candidate will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) by undertaking assessments to support applications for Exam Access Arrangements, along with establishing each student’s normal way of working. They would be expected to liaise with course teams regarding new and continuing learners with SEND including those with an EHCP to provide support for teachers and assist with activities that promote integration of Additional Learning Support (ALS) into curriculum.

Duties will include:

  • Undertaking psychometric testing to support applications for Exam Access Arrangements.
  • Effectively planning, preparing, teaching, and supporting students with SEND and EHCPs from a range of courses across college.
  • Maintain accurate records on relevant college systems, support course teams and students to complete challenging ILP’s with an emphasis on outcomes and aspirations.
  • Offer timely CPD to course teams in relation to ALS needs presented by their students.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must have a recognised postgraduate Qualification in Individual Specialist Assessment/SPLD Level 7 for Exam Access Arrangements or equivalent. This is an essential requirement.
  • Must have experience of working in the post-16 setting, planning, and delivering ALS covering a range of disciplines: English, Maths, ESOL, SLDD, SpLD, MLD, etc for individuals and groups of learners.
  • Proven background of working with young adults with additional needs, target-setting and recording progress of students.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a full teaching qualification or professional recognition in learning and skills (or be currently working towards).
  • Experience of working within Education and Health Care Plan guidelines and of using the RARPA quality assured process is desirable.
