Job overview

Executive Principal to commence in 2025

IB World School

Early Childhood to Year 13

Vision: To provide students with a superior all-round education, prepare them to be responsible global citizens, think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn enthusiastically throughout life.

Kristin is an independent, co-educational school of more than 1,800 students from Early Learning through to Year 13, located on a park-like 50-acre campus with state of the art facilities in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. Kristin is non-denominational and welcomes students from all cultures and backgrounds.

With over 50 years of operation, Kristin has an enviable international reputation based on its outstanding academic results, extensive co-curricular programmes and focus on student and staff wellbeing. The first school in New Zealand to introduce the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), Kristin offers the IB Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma (DP) programmes alongside the National Curriculum to Junior, Middle and Senior school students.

As an IB World School, Kristin is committed to enhancing its international perspective and a sense of global awareness across all three schools. Students at all year levels regularly partake in service initiatives to support others within the school, and the local community.

The Opportunity:

With the relocation of its current Executive Principal, the Kristin Board wishes to appoint a new Executive Principal responsible for overall leadership and management of the school, including the development of strategy and educational innovation to ensure that Kristin continues to be a progressive and innovative leader in the New Zealand independent schools’ sector.

Key Criteria:

  • The Kristin Board seeks to appoint an outstanding commercial and charismatic educational leader to consolidate and strengthen Kristin’s position in this competitive sector. The ideal candidate will have the following attributes and characteristics:
  • A creative and future-focused educational thought leader with a demonstrated strong track record of strategic innovation and implementation in education.
  • A strategic and commercial leader with strong business acumen and demonstrated leadership qualities in building high-performing teams and organisational cultures.
  • Expertise in building and developing our sector-leading approach to wellness, recognising its importance in delivering a strong educational performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong sense of community with proven success in engaging effectively across all areas of a school community.
  • Prior experience in the International Baccalaureate and independent schools’ sector would be advantageous.

This is a unique opportunity to lead an organisation committed to the development of creative and independent thinkers for future generations.
