Job overview
Are you driven to provide the best possible education for young people with special needs?
Are you an innovative, creative teacher?
We are looking for an Art teacher with an interest in special needs education to join us at Garratt Park. You might be a specialist in any of the following (visual arts, drama, music, dance) but it would be preferable if you were able to contribute to more than one discipline. You may be an experienced teacher or ECT from a secondary, primary or special needs background. You will need to be an excellent classroom practitioner who is able to deliver Art to students at different levels. These are currently taught to all students in KS3 and as options in KS4 and KS5. Students are accredited through Entry Level Certificates and Arts Award. We are a small school, so the ability to teach other subjects would also be an advantage.
We have a supportive body of staff and everyone is automatically a member of the Employee Benefit Scheme with a range of external support and discount offers. Furthermore, there is a potential for further Teaching & Learning responsibilities and appropriate training for the right candidate.
Garratt Park School is a special school for children and young people aged 11-19 who have moderate learning difficulties, along with other special needs disabilities including Autism, SCLN, sensory impairments and a small number with more complex needs. We are situated in the inner London borough of Wandsworth and most of our students come from the local area, from diverse backgrounds with around one third entitled to free school meals. Earlsfield is well served by public transport with easy access to the city centre.
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit our friendly and welcoming school. Please contact Janice Button at recruitment@garrattpark.wandsworth.sch.uk to arrange this.
An Application Form, Job Description and Person Specification can be downloaded below or from the Wandsworth Council website https://jobs.richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk/.
Completed application should be returned to the school either by email: recruitment@garrattpark.wandsworth.sch.uk or post.
Closing date: 14 October 2024 (at noon)
Interview date: Week beginning 21st October 2024
Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
