Join Southport College as a Food and Beverage Lecturer and Restaurant Coordinator and combine your industry experience with the rewards of teaching and mentoring young people.

About the role

This unique dual role blends teaching with hands-on restaurant management, offering you the chance to inspire our students while overseeing the operations of Clouds, our student-led training restaurant.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging and practical lessons in food and beverage service skills to students aged 16–18, across Levels 1, 2, and 3.
  • Coordinate and supervise practical sessions in the restaurant, including lunch services and occasional evening events.
  • Inspire learners with valuable real-world insights, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to excel in the hospitality industry.

About you

We’re seeking a dynamic professional with a passion for hospitality and a desire to inspire young people. You’ll have:

  • Significant front-of-house experience in the hospitality and catering industry.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills to manage restaurant services and motivate students.
  • Teaching qualifications (or a willingness to work towards them) – we’ll support you in making the transition into teaching.

Southport College is a well established independent Further Education college providing a diverse programme of education and training to a variety of learners across the North West.

Working closely with schools across Sefton and West Lancashire, Southport College offers a School Links programme for over 250 14-16 year olds who combine studying vocational courses at Southport College alongside their GCSEs in school. Southport College is the area’s largest provider of vocational courses, with nearly 2000 full-time 16-19 year-olds studying a range of qualifications including BTECs, NVQs, CACHE awards, City & Guilds qualifications and the exciting new Advanced Diplomas, in a wide range of subjects from Hair & Beauty Studies or Forensic Science to Childcare or Games Design & Animation.

Southport College provides a range of part-time and full-time courses to over 3000 adult learners, many of them supported by their employers on courses delivered in the workplace through our Employer Services team. Many students choose to study university education at Southport College, following degree courses validated by Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Central Lancashire and Edge Hill University.
