We offer a friendly and fun working environment with potential opportunities to further your professional development. It is based in the Lower School, working with classes from Nursery to Year 2. This includes reading with children; setting up and running activities both indoors and outdoors in liaison with the teacher; supporting children in the classroom during lessons; and preparation, including photocopying, laminating. Often those in this role support PE and gym lessons, and accompany classes to Putney Heath or in our onsite forest school space for outdoor learning.

Those in this role are very much a part of the staff team, and attend staff meetings, relevant training, assist with duties and support after school clubs. As part of the Dukes Education group, staff have access to a range of training opportunities and further support. If you are thinking of exploring teaching as a career, this as an excellent opportunity to do so. In the past, gap students have gone on to complete Level 3 training to become Teaching Assistants or then applied to do a PGCE and taken the leap into teaching.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong work ethic
  • Be flexible and reliable
  • Work well in a team
  • A willingness to learn

We welcome applications from those from Black and Ethnic Minority backgrounds, as they are under-represented in this area currently.

References will be essential; the school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with previous employers and an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Please complete the application form included in the advert or alternatively, email the completed application form to jobs@prospecths.org.uk as soon as possible and before Thursday 5 September, although an appointment may be made before this date if an early applicant proves successful.
