ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Gifted and Talented Coordinator at AISJ is tasked with identifying, nurturing, and supporting the needs of gifted and talented scholars throughout the school. This role involves the establishment, management, and assessment of programs that cater to the unique educational and socio-emotional requirements of these scholars, ensuring their full potential is realized.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

Identification and Assessment:

- Define, with administration, criteria for talented and gifted scholars.

- Collaborate with teachers to identify potential gifted and talented scholars.

- Coordinate the assessment process to confirm a scholar's eligibility for the gifted and talented program.

Program Development and Implementation:

- Develop, implement, and continuously improve curriculum and enrichment programs tailored for gifted and talented scholars.

- Facilitate the integration of differentiated instruction within regular classrooms.

- Create after school and weekend opportunities for scholars.

- Oversee the implementation of in-class programming

Family and Community Outreach:

- Conduct regular workshops for parents on understanding and supporting their gifted children.

- Build community partnerships to offer external opportunities for gifted scholars.

- Foster a school culture that appreciates and celebrates the diversity of scholar talents and abilities.

- Organize events that showcase the achievements and projects of gifted scholars.

Professional Development:

- Train teachers and staff on strategies for supporting gifted and talented scholars.

- Foster awareness about the unique needs and challenges faced by these scholars.

Scholar Support:

- Provide academic and socio-emotional counseling specific to gifted scholars.

- Ensure that gifted scholars are consistently challenged and stimulated in their learning environment.

- Monitor the academic and personal progress of gifted and talented scholars, liaising with teachers and parents.

- Organize specialized events, workshops, or competitions for gifted scholars

Collaboration and coordination:

- Work closely with administration to ensure the gifted and talented program's goals align with the school's overall vision.

- Collaborate with other school departments, like arts and sports, to ensure gifted scholars have holistic development opportunities.

- Engage in regular communication with the parents of gifted scholars, keeping them informed and involved in their child's educational journey.

- Coordinate with external organizations for enrichment opportunities, like summer camps or academic competitions

Resource Management:

- Oversee the allocation of resources for the gifted and talented program, ensuring tools and materials are up-to-date.

- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in gifted education and apply these findings to the AISJ program.

Other Responsibilities:

- Advocate for the rights and needs of gifted and talented scholars at administrative and community levels.

- Engage with the community through extracurricular activities tailored for gifted scholars.

- Respond promptly to queries and concerns from parents, staff, or scholars.

- Supervision duties will be assigned as per school protocols.

- Other duties may, from time to time, be requested by the Principal
