Do you want to make a difference for pupils in your community? Join us as a Graduate Maths Excellence Specialist!

Co-op Academies Trust will provide you with the reward of making a difference and you'll do all this whilst modelling exceptional professional behaviors. We are looking for someone who is hard-working, proactive and committed to ensuring all children have a positive school experience which sets them up for the future.

We’re offering £36,925 per annum for a two year role, followed by a guaranteed place on the Co-op Academies Teacher Training Programme, continuing on the same incentivised salary at the start of your teaching career for successful applicants who remain with the Trust.

Reports to: Academy Head of Mathematics and Trust Directors of Mathematics

This role is a new pathway into teaching secondary mathematics with the Co-op Academies Trust, generously supported by the Maths Excellence Fund. It is open to Maths graduates who are passionate both about mathematics and the power of education to make a difference to the lives of young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

You will work with high-attaining pupils, providing academic interventions, enrichment activities and maths masterclasses in a Co-op Academy, starting with small groups and building towards working with whole classes. After two years, you will have a guaranteed place on the Co-op Academies Teacher Training programme, maintaining the same incentivised salary both during and after your training as you take on a teaching role in one of our academies, with the opportunity to progress into teaching leadership. Why us?

All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.

Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.

Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.

Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We should all have equal chances to succeed.

Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.

Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.

Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.

Being part of the Co-operative Group, we are both guided and driven by the Co-op values which are embedded in everything that we do within our Academy - We strive to demonstrate the following ethical values in everything we do - they are our ‘Ways of Being’:

Captivating minds through co-operation

Through a great education we are changing the lives of young people. Built on the same principles as all cooperatives across the world, we work with academies to empower teachers and young people to work together for a better education and a better community.

We have been recognised by the Sutton Trust Charity and the Education Policy Institute as one of the top performing multi-academy trusts for disadvantaged students. What makes our Trust unique is that we are sponsored by the Co-op Group.

That close relationship means that we benefit from all of the business expertise that has seen the Co-op grow to one of the most respected, ethically driven and successful businesses in the country. Popular with students, parents and teachers, we began in 2010 with just two academies. One in Manchester and one in Stoke-on-Trent. Two years later, in 2012, we began to work with a cluster of academies in Leeds and by 2014 we had five academies in Leeds; made up of one secondary and four primary academies. Pragmatic in our approach to growth we worked closely and co-operatively to improve all of our academies. We now have 28 academies across Greater Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, The Wirral and West Yorkshire.

Our Values

Co-op Academies Trust is committed to the values shared by cooperatives everywhere:

Self-help – we support learners, parents, carers and staff to help themselves

Self-responsibility – we encourage learners, parents, carers and staff to take responsibility for, and answer to their actions

Democracy – we give our learners, parents, carers and staff a say in the way we run our schools

Equality – we believe that the voice of each individual should be heard

Equity – we run our schools in a way that is fair and unbiased

Solidarity – we share interests and common purposes with our learners, parents, carers and staff, and with other schools in the communities we serve

We strive to demonstrate the following ethical values in everything we do:

Openness – we believe in being open with colleagues in our schools and beyond, children and their families, sharing information and ideas to raise standards and life chances

Honesty – we act in a professional and respectful manner in our dealings with everyone

Social responsibility – we maximise our impact on the people in our communities while minimising our footprint on the world

Caring for others – we treat everyone as we wish to be treated ourselves, understanding that children only have one childhood

We use our simple ‘Ways of Being Co-op’ to demonstrate our values:

• Do what matters most

• Be yourself, always

• Show you care

• Succeed together
