Are you passionate about providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students? Buckswood School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as the Head of Boarding. This role is instrumental in ensuring the smooth running and high-quality provision of our boarding facilities.

The Head of Boarding will be responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of our boarding facilities, as well as the welfare and development of our boarding students. This role involves leading a team of Resident Tutors and ensuring compliance with safeguarding regulations and health and safety standards.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a boarding school environment (essential).
  • Experience managing staff and overseeing the welfare of students (essential).
  • Familiarity with safeguarding regulations and child protection policies (essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement boarding policies and procedures (essential).
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and managing health and safety protocols (desirable).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and support for students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of a boarding school environment.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and software relevant to boarding management (e.g., SIMS).
  • Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the diverse needs of students from different backgrounds.
