Job overview

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Technology Lower Primary Teacher to join our team as Head of Department for Technology; the technology curriculum is a combination of Design Technology and Computing. This has already been an established subject specialism where the successful candidate will build upon the current provision and be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and hands-on combined design technology and computing lessons for pupils in the Lower Prep years (Reception to Year 3).

Responsibilities:


- Continue to develop and implement a comprehensive design technology and computing curriculum for Lower Prep pupils

- Teach fundamental design principles, basic coding skills, and digital literacy to young learners

- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

- Integrate technology tools and resources into design technology and computing lessons

- Collaborate with other Heads of Deprtments to design cross-curricular projects that incorporate design technology and computing concepts

- Assess and report on pupil progress and provide timely feedback to support their learning and development 

- Support pupils in using digital tools for research, collaboration, and presentation of their work

- Stay current with trends and developments in design technology and computing education


Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Design Technology, Computer Science, Art or related field

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification

- Experience teaching design technology and computing to Lower Prep pupils

- Strong knowledge of design technology concepts, coding languages, and educational technology tools

- Excellent communication and classroom management skills

- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students

- Passion for integrating technology into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences

The Grange School is a co-educational, independent all-through school with sixth form in Chile, serving pupils from the age of 4-18. The School, situated in La Reina, Santiago has approximately 2,200 pupils on roll.
