The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of 1350 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IBDP respectively. We are inviting applications for the following position commencing in August 2025.

We are looking for a highly skilled, collaborative educator who is passionate about the role of drama in a young person’s education, as a valuable creative discipline as well as developing essential skills for life.

Applicants should be experienced in delivering a relevant, dynamic curriculum that supports students’ personal and social development alongside their appreciation of performance, directing and design. Experience of directing and producing performances would be expected, particularly in terms of providing extra-curricular opportunities. The school’s facilities include a fully equipped black box space and access to an end-on auditorium. The post holder should also be able to teach English as a second subject.

  • A skilled, passionate and inspirational drama specialist who can work collaboratively within an arts team.
  • An educator who can advocate for and deliver a dynamic, meaningful programme as part of a coherent arts education.
  • A practitioner who has experience of designing and delivering a structured drama curriculum that meets the needs of all students allowing them to progress and develop essential skills, knowledge and understanding leading to CIE IGCSE Drama and IBDP Theatre.
  • A reflective colleague who is actively engaged in developing their own professional learning.
  • A willingness to make use of educational technology to meet student needs and to create a dynamic learning environment.
  • An approachable, caring teacher who can support students to build self-esteem and promote wellbeing.
  • An excellent English speaker with sound written and oral communication skills
  • Culturally sensitive, tolerant and patient
  • Positive work ethic and proactive


Qualifications and previous work experience

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) in subject specialism
  • 5 years teaching experience preferred
  • Experience of IGCSE Drama and the IB Theatre would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience of subject leadership preferred
  • Experience in an international context is desirable
