We are looking for a dynamic and skilled individual who is passionate about leading our dedicated small team of Individuals & Societies IB teachers as academic Head of Department, together with teaching of MYP I&S and DP Global Politics and History. 


The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the latest evidence-based approaches to teaching, with a thorough understanding of the requirements of the DP Global Politics, courses, and a commitment to I&S learning in MYP.

Fully qualified candidates should demonstrate high academic standards and be able to challenge and engage students to meet their academic goals.


The responsibilities of the role include:

● Departmental leadership and staff development as a member of the academic leadership team

● Overseeing appropriate progress of students within the I&S department

● Development, implementation and monitoring of the I&S curriculum as per schoolwide  and IB curriculum design principles

● Delivering engaging and effective I&S learning and assessment

● Collaborating with other teachers and staff to maximise student learning and progress

● Maintaining a positive learning environment through effective interpersonal skills and forming positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents


Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in a related humanities field

● Recognised teaching qualification

● 3+ years of successful experience teaching Global Politics and/or History at DP (or similar) in an international school setting

● Knowledge of IB Programme approaches and curriculum - or willingness to train and adapt

● Successful and demonstrable experience of team leadership responsibilities

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team


The candidate must be able to teach and perform all related functions in English, our school language of communication and instruction. It would be an advantage to hold an EU passport and/or have relevant working papers for employment in France. 


This full-time position starts on 22 August 2024 and is remunerated between 50,000-57,000 euros per year, subject to experience.
