The school is known for its progressive educational philosophy and close-knit, nature-focused community, making it a place where students grow holistically and learn by doing.

Job Purpose:

The Head of Marketing, Communication, and Admissions is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract and retain students, ensuring that the school's unique values and educational approach are communicated effectively. This role will manage the admissions process, lead marketing initiatives, and oversee communications to internal and external audiences. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with prospective families, alumni, and external partners, and help maintain the school's high reputation internationally.

At Ecole d'Humanité, we are looking for a leader who is deeply passionate about our progressive education model and committed to the values and unique offerings of the school. The right candidate will embody the spirit of Ecole d'Humanité and be eager to share its distinctive approach to learning, community life, and holistic development with the world.

This role requires a balance between on-site presence at the school and international travel to recruitment fairs, alumni events, and external engagement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Marketing Strategy & Communications

  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan that aligns with the Ecole’s values and philosophy.
  • Oversee content creation for all communication platforms, ensuring messaging consistency across digital channels, social media, print, and public relations.
  • Emphasize the school’s core strengths such as its commitment to experiential learning, nature-driven education, and personalized teaching methods.

2. Admissions & Enrolment

  • Manage the full admissions process, ensuring a professional and welcoming experience for prospective families.
  • Drive enrollment targets by tracking and improving conversion rates, and developing strategies to engage with international families and partners.
  • Work closely with school leadership to meet enrollment goals while preserving the unique community-driven ethos of the school.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with international school placement agents.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the key point of contact for external stakeholders, including prospective families, alumni, and media, enhancing the school’s visibility and reputation.
  • Organize and promote events such as Open Days, recruitment fairs, and alumni reunions, both on campus and globally.
  • Maintain strong relationships with alumni to foster community support and engagement.

4. Data & Analytics

  • Track and report on marketing performance and admissions data, using insights to refine strategies and improve results.
  • Leverage CRM systems to manage enquiries and track conversions, ensuring an efficient admissions process.

5. Team Leadership

  • Lead a team responsible for marketing and admissions, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to align team goals with the school’s strategic objectives.

Working Arrangements

This role offers the flexibility to work from home, allowing for a balanced and adaptable working arrangement. However, regular on-site presence at the Ecole d'Humanité campus in the Swiss Alps is essential to foster relationships within the school community, lead key admissions and marketing initiatives, and engage with students, staff, and families. Additionally, the role involves international travel to represent the school at recruitment fairs, alumni events, and other external engagements worldwide. Candidates should be comfortable with a mix of remote work, on-campus engagement, and travel abroad to ensure the success of the school's admissions and marketing efforts.

Key Candidate Characteristics:

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Passionate about progressive education and inspired by the school’s mission to develop curious, creative, and socially conscious individuals.
  • An experienced marketing and admissions professional with a proven ability to attract and retain students, particularly in an international or independent school setting.
  • A skilled communicator with experience in content creation and digital marketing, able to engage diverse audiences and build meaningful relationships with prospective families, students, and alumni.
  • Strategic-minded, with the ability to develop marketing plans that align with the school's ethos while achieving growth objectives.
  • Proficient in digital tools and analytics, with experience using CRM systems and social media platforms to monitor performance and inform decision-making.
  • Multilingual (English and German essential, with French highly desirable) to engage effectively in a multicultural and international environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Leadership experience in marketing and admissions, ideally in the international education sector.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies to increase enrolment.
  • Experience in managing teams and fostering professional development.

Personal Attributes:

  • A self-motivated and creative leader who can innovate and inspire a team while working independently.
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable, able to work in a diverse and international school environment.
  • A community-oriented individual, enthusiastic about building relationships within the school and with external stakeholders worldwide.

About Ecole d'Humanité

The Ecole d’Humanité, an international boarding high school, is located in Hasliberg Goldern, just off the rail line between Interlaken and Lucerne. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring peaks of the Bernese Oberland, our international village for living, learning, and growing is home to children and adults from some 25 different countries. The stunning natural setting provides both a wholesome learning environment and exceptional opportunities for hiking, skiing, climbing, and other outdoor activities.

The academic program at the Ecole aims to promote meaningful understanding rather than surface knowledge. Students take only three academic subjects per trimester. This allows them to concentrate on each one with special intensity. Small classes (student-teacher ratio is 5:1) allow for individualized instruction and demand active participation.

To balance the intensive academic program in the morning students devote their afternoons to the arts, sports, and practical work, selecting from some eighty possible courses. Blacksmithing, skiing or snowboarding, woodworking, painting, pottery, rock-climbing, the annual Shakespeare production, French theater, classical, jazz, folk, and pop music ensembles, instrumental and voice lessons, gardening, and animal husbandry are just a few of the fields students can choose to explore and then concentrate on in their afternoons.

The Ecole d’Humanité offers both Swiss and American academic programs. The American Program leads to a High School Diploma and includes preparation for the College Board SAT exams, for which the Ecole is an official testing center. Students can also prepare for exams leading to the AP International Diploma (see facing page) and entrance to universities around the world. Our Swiss Program offers primary and normal secondary school diplomas which are recognized throughout Switzerland. Older students can prepare for university via the Swiss Matura exams or the College Board AP exams, or they can take courses that increase their chances of winning a place in a demanding apprenticeship or a vocational college.
