Ixworth High School is a small, friendly secondary school located in the Suffolk village of Ixworth, it is around 10 minutes from the A14, 15 minutes from Bury St Edmunds, and 30 minutes from Ipswich. We are have been oversubscribed in recent years, and are a popular school.

We have recently joined Sapientia Educational Trust with the benefits that a successful, knowledgeable and well resourced trust are able to offer, including CPD and support at all levels.

The school is currently a “good” school according to Ofsted, with an inspection from September 2019. 

THE ROLE 

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Mathematics at Ixworth High School. The successful candidate will have a personal track record of success teaching GCSE Mathematics to pupils with a range of abilities, including those with SEN. We are looking for someone with either proven leadership responsibilities, or the potential to lead a successful faculty. They will have a passion for mathematics and a clear understanding of how students learn best, with the ability to lead, communicate and implement those strategies across the faculty.

We believe that success in any subject is down to a strong curriculum and consistent high quality delivery in the classroom through a thorough knowledge of learning theory. We have a wide ranging enrichment offer and deliver the full national curriculum in KS3 and a wide range of GCSEs in KS4, including Statistics and Further Mathematics.

Candidates may be early in their careers, but the post is not suitable for ECTs. Teachers with experience as a second or deputy head of mathematics, or late entry teachers with leadership experience in other industries, are encouraged to apply.
