We are looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Secondary from September 2025.

Founded in 2001, The British School Al Rehab (TBS) is one of the oldest, most established British schools in Egypt and the only British international school in the beautiful city of Rehab. The Role: 

We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic and caring leader that is excited to join our world class schools and is driven to provide education at an exceptional level.  We are seeking someone who would like to join our existing team on the next step of our journey and is:

· An outstanding Secondary School practitioner 

· An inspirational and motivational leader with high expectations 

· Someone with a proven record of accomplishment in raising standards 

· Has the ability to analyse data, develop strategic plans, set targets, monitor and evaluate progress towards these. 

· Motivated, innovative, and able to inspire and support others 

· Has a clear vision for education that can be articulated with confidence.  

· Has a detailed and up to date knowledge of the Secondary curriculum and features of effective teaching.  

· Has a passion for teaching and learning as well as the wellbeing of children, staff and parents. 

· Is an active listener and a reflective leader, communicating effectively with children, staff and parents.

· Creates a culture where staff are motivated, trusted, and encouraged to take the initiative and make decisions, and where they will feel supported to develop their own skills as leaders. 

· Has a successful track record of senior leadership within education, ideally to have included secondary headship experience or similar.  

· Has excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to meet challenges with optimism. 

 The Head of Secondary will: 

· Contribute to the development of whole school strategic planning. 

· Lead the development of the Secondary School. 

· Engage students and staff in the development of subject and individual goals and targets.  

· Aligning resource selection and allocation to priority goals. This includes the provision of appropriate expertise through involvement in staff appointments. 

·Contribute to whole school decisions about resource allocation

·Direct involvement in the support and evaluation of teaching through regular classroom visits and provision of formative and summative feedback to teachers.  

· Direct oversight of curriculum through school wide coordination across subjects and year levels and alignment to school goals. 

· Contribute to school wide curriculum development. 

· Support and evaluate quality of teaching in the Secondary School. 

· Promote and engage in the teacher appraisal process across the school. 

· Identify professional learning needs in the Secondary School.

· Leadership that not only promotes but directly participates with teachers in formal or informal professional learning. 

·Provide a safe physical and emotional environment in the Secondary School.   

· Lead the development and maintenance of a collegial and supportive culture in the school that encourages risk taking and openness.

· Develop and implement procedures to support good classroom engagement and behavior 

· Ensure that communications with students and parents are positive and effective, and consistent with school wide expectations.

·Hold regular meetings with teachers to lead professional development with organisational matters

·Contribute to the whole-school calendar. 

·To monitor that all new staff are inducted in a cohesive and effective manner ensuring they are settled and aware of their responsibilities. 

· Ensure that all staff are familiar with school wide systems and processes as applicable. 

· Lead aspects of external accreditation 

 

The successful applicant will have: 

· Degree certification in addition to a certified teaching qualification, such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent (essential) 

· Experience of teaching in a UK curriculum school (essential)

· Experience of senior leadership (essential) 

· NPQH or equivalent (desirable)

· Experience of CIS accreditation (desirable)
