Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and effective leader with a clear vision and ability to inspire, who can also drive the strategic development of the school through an innovative and dynamic approach. As a member of the Trust Executive Management Team, you will be part of driving the Trust forward to achieve its ambitions in line with its vision and values. Enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate, you will help us realise the full potential in all our students.

The successful candidate will be joining Glossopdale school following a very successful Ofsted in November 2023 where we secured a ‘good’ judgement after many years of being judged either inadequate or Requires Improvement. As well as this, the school as just had its best set of GCSE exam results in many years. We are incredibly proud of the improvements made at our school and we now want the right candidate to build on this success and continue our improvement journey.

Glossopdale School is part of the True Learning Partnership, a Trust formed of five likeminded schools who work together to provide an excellent education for our children. Our desire is to improve the life chances of all those in our care, we have made it our mission to make a positive difference to our children, staff, parents and the wider community. We are keen to continue to develop the links between all of our schools, working as “One Vision, One Trust” to make a positive difference to the communities we serve.

While with us, we encourage every member of staff to stretch themselves and we give everyone access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities. Glossopdale is a research-based school with the aim to develop highly effective evidence-based practices including teaching, learning and assessment, where we collaborate as a whole staff to persistently improve our pedagogy and where we evaluate our practice habitually. A range of bespoke CPD programmes are available for teachers, leaders and support staff. All our CPD is high-quality and evidence-based, focusing on developing the quality of provision for school settings.

Glossopdale School has some of the best facilities in the area having fully rebuilt the school in 2018. This not only provides both staff and students with everything they can expect for modern teaching and learning, but also gives us exceptional environmental credentials.

We offer highly competitive salaries, pension scheme membership, free on-site parking and regular social events. All staff are able to access discounted gym memberships and other negotiated benefits across the Trust. These include a cycle to work programme and flu vaccination vouchers for those employees who don’t qualify under current government guidelines. We are proud to be partnering with Vivup from September 2024 to develop a new Colleague Benefits Platform which will improve the accessibility to these benefits for all of our employees. The Trust provides an Employee Assistance Programme which offers a wide range of services including legal and wellbeing support for employees and their families.

Staff wellbeing and providing a positive and healthy working environment is a key priority for us, as supporting all of our staff enables them to support all of our students. We are very pleased that our commitment to staff wellbeing has been recognised by the Valued Worker scheme which offers accreditation to workplaces where staff feel valued.

Our core purpose is to support students of all abilities and backgrounds to develop high aspirations and achieve their potential. We encourage all students to work hard and aim high in order to succeed both academically and personally.

We nurture and build ambition for our students. Whilst your children grow into young people with us, we will open opportunities, broaden horizons and introduce challenges ensuring that in our five years together they are becoming the best that they can be.

We fully recognise that students have different interests, dreams, abilities and needs and our school’s broad and flexible curriculum reflects this. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum from Year 7 through to Year 13. Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom and our students are encouraged to participate in many other learning experiences that do not begin and end on the bell.

All students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and conduct. Discipline in the school is clear and consistent to ensure an orderly and effective learning environment in which we expect high standards of work, behaviour and uniform.

We are in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, within easy commuting distance for Manchester and Sheffield.  We have strong Community links with Glossop and Hadfield and excellent links with community providers.
