Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and talented educator to teach Language A: Literature (Russian) and English as a Second Language (ESL) to high school students at our international IB school. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore and appreciate Russian literature while supporting their development of English language skills for academic and social success. Key Responsibilities:

1. Language A: Literature (Russian):

  • Teach the IB Language A: Literature (Russian) curriculum, guiding students in the analysis of literary texts within their cultural, historical, and social contexts.
  • Support students in developing advanced analytical, interpretive, and communication skills, preparing them for IB assessments such as the Individual Oral, Paper 1, and the Extended Essay.


2. English as a Second Language (ESL):

  • Provide targeted ESL instruction to non-native English-speaking students, focusing on developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Equip students with the skills needed to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment and integrate effectively into the school community.


3. Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Design and deliver lessons aligned with the IB framework, incorporating inquiry-based learning and critical engagement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and foster an inclusive classroom environment.


4. Assessment and Feedback:

  • Develop and administer assessments for both Language A and ESL courses, providing detailed feedback to support student progress.
  • Monitor and report on student performance, ensuring alignment with IB standards and learning objectives.


5. Collaboration and Professional Growth:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate language and literature studies into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to refine teaching practices and deepen knowledge of the IB philosophy.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Russian, English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and/or IB training in Language A: Literature and ESL can be beneficial.
  • Proven experience teaching high school students..
  • Proficiency in teaching literary analysis and language acquisition methodologies.
