The role

37.5 hours per week (8am to 4pm, Mon-Fri) Term time plus training days

We are seeking a committed, professional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work within the secondary school of our academy.  There is an expectation that the post holder will operate in line with the professional standards expected of a teacher, providing supervision for students and support for the teaching staff.

 You will have excellent standards in literacy and numeracy, as you will be providing educational support in class and in practical activities.  You will have experience of supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, ensuring that students have the support required to succeed in their education.

 This role will help us expand our SEND team to ensure all of our learners are well supported and included in our curriculum whenever possible. We are seeking someone with established skills in this area that can add capacity to our team and drive forward the progress of our SEND learners. There is potential to tailor this role for the right candidate to ensure a ‘good-fit’.


About You

You might be a Teaching Assistant who is looking for your next step or you’re a Teacher who is looking for a different challenge. Alternatively, you might not currently work in a school but may have the relevant skills and experience from another sector.

 You have the specialist knowledge, skills, understanding and experience relevant to the nature of this post.  You may have prior experience of working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting, delivering interventions and supporting students to achieve to their potential. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or be willing to work towards this.

 You will be able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students and adults working in the school.  You will enjoy the challenge of contributing positively to the work, ethos and values of the school and be willing to go above and beyond in this important role.

Kettering Buccleuch Academy is a co-educational academy open to students aged 4 –19.
