Required from 7 September 2024

James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts is seeking to appoint two experienced and enthusiastic teachers from 7 September 2024. There are two posts available due to larger than expected numbers of pupil applications for 24-25. Both roles will suit a diverse musician who can offer their main instrument as well as experience of teaching composition.

  • Piano teacher (with optional composition skills) - The successful candidate will have experience both as a performer and teacher. A particular interest in teaching beginners up to Grade 5 is of an advantage as well as experience of playing a stringed instrument/cello, because part of this position may include accompanying a beginner strings ensemble. An interest in teaching 1:1 composition up to GCSE and A level is advantageous although not essential. All instrumental and composition classes are taught 1:1. The beginner strings ensemble is a new venture and will be team taught.

  • Cello teacher (with optional composition/keyboard skills) - The successful candidate will have experience both as a performer and teacher. A particular interest in teaching beginners is of an advantage as well as good keyboard skills for accompanying a beginner strings ensemble. The ability to teach 1:1 composition up to GCSE and A level is advantageous. All instrumental and composition classes are taught 1:1. The beginner strings ensemble is a new venture and will be team taught.

Lessons take place in Dulwich on term time Saturdays. Click here for current term dates.

Hours: These positions are due to our pupil numbers growing for next academic year. The hours available will depend on the skillset of the successful candidate, but will likely start with a full morning of teaching and having the potential for hours to increase as the year progresses. Established teachers at Jasspa teach for up to 7 hours/Saturday. All instrumental and composition tuition is 1:1.
