Wellesley Prep School in an independent co-educational school set in 100 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside with 300 children from 2 to 13 years old. Wellesley Prep offers a healthy environment for children to grow and prosper as individuals. We are seeking an ambitious and creative classics and Latin teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage children both in the classroom and beyond, fostering a love for classics and Latin. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about classics and Latin and is ready to encourage pupils think beyond conventional boundaries.

Any additional subject will be welcomed.

Person Specification 

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills, experience and attributes: 

Qualifications and Experience 

·        A good subject relevant Degree, with teaching qualification

·        Good understanding and knowledge of current educational issues for the 7 – 13 age group.

·        Ability to teach to scholarship level at 13+


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

·        Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, consult and discuss

·        Excellent Computing/ICT and Literacy skills 

·        Willingness to be visible and act as a high profile ambassador for the School to current and prospective parents

·        Ability to relate effectively to all sections of the School community 

·        Ability to lead, inspire and motivate pupils 

·        Ability to drive creativity in Classics and Latin and make a contribution to the department's development plan and associated departmental documents 

·        Ability to manage change successfully 

·        Ensuring the safety, well-being and pupils.

·        Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills

·        Highly efficient, with excellent time management skills 

·        Commitment to achieving the highest possible academic standards.

 

Working at Wellesley:

·        Immediately responsible to: Director of Studies

·        Part-Time – up to three days a week.

·        Commencement Date: 1st September 2025

·        School Term time only (to include working days prior to the return and after the departure of pupils as may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties).

·        Notice Period: One school term.

·        Salary: Depending on experience.  

·        Pension: Auto-enrolment into the School Pension Scheme.

·        School lunch provided
